21. Not as a brother

We ordered a big size bowl of tteokbokki and sticky chickens. We sat and waited on the table. We talked about our high school life.

" We're immature back then." Namjoon said.

" Obviously! We're around 17. It's probably immature and Jungkook was so small." Jin said and everyone giggled.

" But that's the most enjoyable time." I said and looked out the window where students walked back home.

" We also can enjoy our life now. It's not too late, right?" Hobi hyung grabbed my neck with his arms and I was almost out of breath.

Later our food was coming and everyone was excited to have a bite. We enjoyed eating our meal and laughing. Hmmmm.... so yummy.

Then my phone rang and ' my lady boss' appeared on my screen. They turned to look at my phone which was on the table.
" Ayeeeee who's this? Is it her?" Jimin teased me.

I nodded, " I'm going to answer her." I walked outside and answered her call.

" Hello bora-ahh."
(When will you come back?)
" after I finish my lunch. What's wrong?"
(umm... the thing is umm...)
" what's wrong?" I raised my voice.
(Can you buy me some pads?) she said in low voice.
" Huh? What's pads?" I was confused.
(Aishh!!! You don't know pads?!!)

I was trying to figure out what is it. Is it the thing girls use on their period? The moment I realized, I widened my eyes. Sh*ttt!

" wait! Wait! You want me to buy that thing?"
(I run out of it and I only have one left. I can't go out and buy it as well because I got cramps.)
" Bora-ahh! I'm a boy. It's embarrassing."
(please TaeTae! I know it's embarrassing but can you help me once?)

I didn't know what to do. Bora was in pain too. Gosh!! I sighed and agreed to buy it for her.
" alright! I'll buy it. Wait a moment, ok?"
(Umm... hurry up!)
" Yes yes." I hung up and went back in the restaurant.

I walked towards my friends table.
" Guys! I have to go. I'll tell you later. See you!" I said and ran out of it.

I headed to a convenience store. I was finding that thing and then I saw it. But it has many brands and I didn't know which one. I called Bora again and asked her about it. She told me the brand and I was scanning through the aisle. After that I found it, I grabbed three packages and went to pay for it.

The worker looked at me weirdly and I felt so embarrassed. He told me the price and I gave him money and grabbed plastic bag then ran away without getting the change.

I ran to the bus stop and waited for the bus breathlessly. I sat down on the bench. Later bus came and I went in.

I rushed to get inside the house. As soon as I got in, I went straight to Bora's room.

I knocked a door and stood breathlessly. Then she opened the door a little and I handed her the plastic bag. She grabbed it and closed the door immediately. I was exhausted. I went in my room and laid down on my bed.

I was exhausted running here. I hope she's fine. After I stopped being tired, I took my phone out and texted to my friends.

Taehyungie: Guys, I'm sorry for leaving earlier. Bora has emergency.

Jin hyung: It's okay. We already separated to our own way.

Hobi: Take some rest, guys. Let's meet again next time ^^

After texting, I sighed heavily and closed my eyes to relax. Then I wondered how is Bora now. I stood up and walked to her room.

I was nervous to knock the door but Still I did it. She didn't open the door so I asked her from the outside, " Bora-ahh?? Are you okay?"

" I'm in pain!!!!" She shouted and I was worried.

" Bora! Can I go in?" I asked and she didn't say anything.

I decided to open the door and it wasn't locked. As soon as I went in, I saw Bora was laying down on her bed and groaning in pain. I walked towards her and sat beside her.

" do you need anything?" I asked in worried.

" Can you get me hot water?" She said between groaning.

I nodded and went downstairs immediately. I poured hot water in a cup and poured hot water in the bottle for cramps. After that, I ran back to her room and brought a towel to place on her stomach. Then I wrapped the towel around the hot water bottle and helped her to sit up. I helped her drinking hot water.

She seemed getting better. I let her lay back on the bed. She held the hot water bottle tightly.

I looked at her worried and caressed her hair.
" I have never done this thing before. I'm glad I can help you out this time." I said and smiled.

She turned to look at me, " Thank you. I never knew you know about something like this."

I giggled, " I'm 25. I'm mature enough to know it."

We didn't talk much. I let her rest on her own and got out of the room. I had nothing to do so I went to the kitchen to help ahjuma for dinner.

The next next days, I still kept Bora company at her university.

I drove her to school as always. It's been days and I wondered if she's still on her period. Should I ask? Is it awkward?

" Bora-ahh." Finally I had enough confidence to ask and she turned to look at me.

I was still concentrating on driving, " Umm... are you okay now? I mean, your period." I hesitated.

She giggled, " Ahhh.... it's already ended."

I nodded awkwardly, " I see."

" I'm sorry for that day. You might be embarrassed to buy it for me." She smiled.

" Not really. I have never bought it before. That's why I feel embarrassed." I laughed and she laughed too.

" You're such a gentleman." She complimented me and I blushed.

" I'm glad I can take good care of you." I said and glanced her.

" You're such a brother material." She smiled. Brother? " You look like a brother to me. You really take a good care of me. Thank you!" She said and patted my arm.

" That's okay. I want to do it." I said. " the thing is, I don't want you to see me as a brother."

She seemed confused and didn't say anything. I wanted to make it clear, " Actually, brother is someone who takes good care and protects sister. But best friends is someone who you can laugh, talk and tease with. Best friend will always be there for you and stay by your side to make your days better. So yes! I want you to see me as your best friend." I turned to smile at her and she still seemed confused.

She nodded lightly, " That's a good idea. You are already my best friend anyway."

" Am I?"

She nodded, " Of course. You understand me better than anyone else."

I giggled and looked at her. I don't know if I really want to be her best friend or more than that? Silly me! There's no more position for me.
