~Alesana~

Zoey and mine's relationship has been placed under a tremendous mental strain after the hectic week of having my ex Anna constantly showing up on our doorstep after I promised her it wouldn't happen again. Seeing her so distraught over the appearances of my exes was killing me on the inside.

She has refused to sleep in the same room with me after the second encounter with Anna. Hell, she wouldn't even allow me to sleep on the floor in the same room as her and Kaede.

Today she and I sat at the dinner table eating the breakfast that I had prepared while Kaede sat in his high chair playing right beside me. Every now and then Zoey would glare at me before turning her attention back to her plate.

“Talk to me about what you are feeling and think Zoey.”

“I'm thinking about moving back to my house.” She replied while jabbing at the piece of sausage with force.

“I'm not cheating on you, Zoey.” I knew that this is where that statement was stemming from. “I would never put you through the mess that your ex did.”

“I know that Alesana. What bothers me the most is the fact that you haven't made any attempt to keep her away after professing how much Kaede and I mean to you.” She replies while shooting daggers at me.

“I promise you she won't be coming back here again sweetheart.”

“That's the lie you told me the last time I agreed to stay as long as your ex's stayed away. I'm done talking about this with you. “ She snapped then abruptly stood from her seat and disposed of her leftover food into the trash.

“Yesterday I filed a restraining order against Anna,” I tell her after walking over to where she stood at the sink washing her plate. Kaede was making a happy gurgling noise while smacking the palm of his hands onto the surface of his highchair. She walked out of the kitchen without saying another word after staring at me for a few seconds.

I was left standing there feeling like I had done something that wasn't repairable. I know that I should have handled the situation with Anna properly before it got this far, but I was trying not to bring any unwanted attention upon my son and the woman who meant the world to me. Furthermore, I didn't want our private life to be drawn into the brutal presence of the media that was sure to follow once they heard about the restraining order I placed upon one of my exes.

Not only that, but I didn't want Zoey and Kaede to be the talk of the town all because my parents have always painted me as one of the wealthiest and most eligible bachelors to every media outlet in town. Shaking my head to clear my thought I walked over to where Kaede was.

“Are you ready to go to daycare buddy?” I asked him while he clapped his hands together gleefully.

“We're heading out,” I announced to Zoey as she walked down the stairs.

“Wait right there Alesana.” She commands.

I stopped at the front door and grabbed Kaede's jacket off the door hanger while she approached us.

“Have a good day my little guy, and you stop worrying about what's happening between the two of us.” She says pointing at me and then back at herself.

“How do you expect me to be able to do that when I'm about to lose the best thing that has ever happened to me, Zoey?”

“Because I may be upset right now, but I know what an awesome man I've got. I'm not going to give up on us so easy baby.” She leaned up on her tiptoes and kissed me softly on my lips while our son bounced happily in my arms.

“I love you, Zoey,” I confess before walking out of the front door.

~Zoey~ Two hours later

I walked into my office feeling a bit relieved after finding out the man whom I loved was willing to take whatever measures needed to be taken to secure our relationship. My happy feeling slightly vanished when Kylee barged into my office.

“Where's Zack at?” She yelled at me.

“How in the hell am I supposed to know?” I reply. “If you can't keep up with the whereabouts of your man that's your problem, not mine.”

“You know where he is!” She charged.

Kylee stumbled backward when I stood from my seat and walked around my desk. “I'm not going to lay my hand on you this time, but I will give you a clue as to where your little man might be if you really want to know.” I snidely remark.

“And where is that Zoey?”

“Try looking at your house laid up with his face planted between some other bimbo thighs.”

“Fuck you, Zoey.” She angrily spat.

“You don't have the tools to do that with, and you definitely ain't the right person for the job.” I sling back before she slammed my office door behind her. I sat behind my desk trying to finish up a few reports before heading out to meet a new client.

“Mrs. Larson there's a Mrs. Calloway on the phone for you.” My secretary says peeking her head in through my door.

“I will be at your office in a bit to speak to you.” Zack's mother says into the phone then hangs up before I could say a word.

“Callie, I need you to call my next client to inform them that I may be a little late due to personal issues,” I say as I come out to stand right beside her. “Have Zack bothered to show up for work today?”

“No ma'am.” She replies with a grimace on her pretty face.

“If and when he does please let me know,” I tell her then walk back into my office.
