Alesana POV… At Berkshire Hospital:

“Little brother, how are you doing?” I asked Zander while standing at the foot of his hospital bed. I knew that he heard me, but he just lay there pretending like he was asleep. I pulled out my cell phone and called the one person that I knew he wouldn't just lay there and ignore. Zander, Luna, and I are afraid of the wrath Grams would give us if we dared to disrespect her like this. I placed the phone on speakerphone and laid it on top of the nightstand by his bed.

“Good morning, Zander.” I hear Gram's cheerful voice echoing inside the small hospital room.  He just lay there with his eyes closed, still not saying a word.

“Is he still asleep, Junebug?” Grams asked me.

“No, ma'am, he's pretending to be asleep,” I replied, then forcefully yanked both the white sheet and blanket off him.

“Zander, I promise you that if I knew anything about how Brianna is doing, I would tell you, my sweet darling grandson. You know that your grandma doesn't like keeping secrets from her family.” I hear her tell him in a worried voice.

“I know Grams,” He replied, while at the same time opening his eyes and glaring at me.

“How are you feeling this morning?” Grams asked him after letting out a long sigh of relief.

“Grams, not knowing how Brianna is doing, has me feel like someone has tied a ten-ton brick around both of my ankles and threw me overboard into a deep, dark ocean.  The love I once had for living is slowly changing into something that I don't recognize.” He replied in a somber voice.

“After what you've just experienced, grandson, no one expects you to feel the same way about life as you did before the accident. I would be more worried about you if you did.” I hear her say to my brother.

“Somebody could at least let me know if she's alive or not so that I could either grieve for my woman or pray for her fast recovery." Zander angrily replied, then tried to get out of the bed.

“Little brother, your left leg is broken, which means you can't get out of bed by yourself yet,” I yell at him then force him to get back in bed.

“I can't continue to lay in this pasty ass white hospital room staring at these four walls day in and day out without hearing any news about my girlfriend's condition.” He snaps at me.

“If you lay back down and relax, I'll go find out how Brianna is doing,” I tell him.

“You promise that you'll go find out what's going on with her, Alesana?”

“Yes, I promise, little brother,” I reply.

“And will you tell me the truth about her condition, whether it be good or bad?” He then asked me.

“Do I look like I would hide anything from you, Zander?”

“No, but…”

“I would expect you to do the same thing for me if I was in the same situation as you, Zander,” I replied before walking out of the room. I rode the elevator up to the ICU room on the fifth floor, where Brianna is being taken care of. My mind was all over the place thinking about how I was going to approach Brianna's family and asked them how their daughter is doing? I stepped off the elevator and walked slowly down the long, quiet hallway, deep in thought.

“I'm so sorry, Ms,” I said to a tall, slender nurse when I almost collided with the big ass cart she was pushing as we both rounded the corner at the same time. She smiled politely at me and kept on moving in the direction that she was going.  “Hi, I'm Alesana Wong, Zander Wong, older brother,” I announced to a group of people that were standing outside the ICU room.
