Zander's POV a.k.a Ten

“I miss you so much,” I said to Brianna as I stood by the head of the bed, washing her face with a warm, White bath towel. A lone tear slipped from my eyes as I stood there, recalling the last words she said to me before the accident. The words, “I love you Zander, and want to spend the rest of my life with you,” keep playing over and over in my head from the time I wake up until the time I fall asleep every night.

“Good morning, Zander.” Mrs. Taylor says as she and both of Brianna's grandmother enters the room.

“Good morning,” I replied, plastering on a fake smile.

“You don't have to pretend to be okay in front of us, son. We know that you are having just as hard of a time seeing Brianna like this as we are.” Grandma Nessa says after pulling me into a tight hug.

“Son, have you been getting any rest at all?” Grandma Rissa asked as she caressed the left side of my face with her right hand.

“Not really,” I replied, looking towards the floor.

“Well, let's fix that.” Grandma Nessa blurts out while her and Grandma Nessa pushed me over towards the door.

“I can't do that!” I murmured.

“You can, and you will, young man, even if we have to physically knock you out to get and carry you home ourselves.” Grandma Rissa threatens while balling up her tiny fist.

“Zander, if I were you, I'd do what the two ladies suggested.” Mrs. Taylor tells me with a worried look on her face.

“What if Brianna wakes up looking for me?”

“I'll be the first person to call you if you're not here already.” Mrs. Taylor says, looking down at her daughter, then back up at me.

“You being here in this condition will not be any good to Brianna when she does wake, especially not after she finds out about the baby.” Grandma Nessa states, patting me on my shoulder gently before opening the door.

“Call me if anything changes in her condition.” I blurted out, then walked out of the room. Instead of going straight to the hotel room Brianna and I booked for our stay until my brother's wedding, I went to my parent's house. I didn't feel like being alone with my wandering thoughts at the moment. Right now, I'd rather put up with my sister nagging me to hook her up with Lucas or my dad complaining about being in a band than to be all alone with the scary thoughts of planning a future without Brianna in it.

I heard loud laughter coming from Luna, Grams, and my friends filtered through the house as soon as I walked through the front door. “Hey, there, grandbaby.” Gram greets me affectionately, at the same time she pulled me into a tight hug.

“How is Brie, doing?” Kun and Luna asked me at the same time.

“She's still not awakened,” I solemnly responded before taking a seat in between Xiaojun and Hendrey on the sofa.

“She'll open those beautiful, warm, smiling eyes of hers soon,” Lucas says, patting me gently on my right knee.

“I know she will come back to me, I'm just having a hard time being patient…” I was saying when the front doorbell rang.

“I'll get the door,” Luna called out before dashing out of the room. In an angry voice, I heard her ask, “What are you doing here?”

“Your father invited me here.” I heard the woman who has caused me nothing but heartache and pain since I started dating Brianna.

“Let her and her friend in the house!” Dad demanded as he descended the stairs.

“Boy, have you lost your damn mind inviting that witch into our house?” Gram snaps at dad when she sees Mei and Charlotte walking into the living room, smiling big. “You know damn well your son is having a hard time currently and yet, you still invited these self-centered ass women here. Are you purposely trying to add more stress to your son's life?” she barked, staring daggers at dad, then over towards Mei and Charlotte.

“That's not my intention at all, mother. I invited Mei here, hoping that she could make Zander understand that she's the best woman for him, not this Brianna chic…” Dad was saying when I abruptly stood to my feet.

“Well, you wasted your time and effort, dad.” I angrily shout. “I will never be with Mei, especially not after I've gotten a taste of what real love is and how a real woman should treat herself and her man.”

“If not Mei, then how about settling down with Charlotte?” I hear dad man ask me as he pushed Charlotte towards me.

“So now you've resorted to passing off women to your Son like they are toys to be played with, huh?” Grams asked in a disgusted voice.

“I'd prefer my son to be with anyone other than Zoey and Brianna,” Dad replied.

“Why is that?” I foolishly asked him.

“Because these two women aren't good enough to be a part of my family, Zander!”

“You won't have to worry about being a part of either one of our family's dad because we don't want or need you in our lives from this day forward." Alesana spat as he walked out of the kitchen, with Zoey and mom following behind him. “Come on babe, let's get out of here before I hurt this old man for talking this crazy ass shit,” Alesana says to Zoey before grabbing a hold of her hand and walking out the front door.

“I'm out of here too…” I was saying when my cell phone rang. “Hello, I speak into the
phone.

“She's awakened, Zander.” I hear Mrs. Taylor tearfully blurts out.

“I'll be rig… I'll be there in a minute…” I stuttered, then hung up the phone.

I covered my face with my trembling hands and just cried. “ What is it, baby?” mom asked me in a nervous voice.

“Brianna is awake,” I mumbled with my face still buried in the palm of my hands.

“Isn't that good news, Ten?” Yangyang asked in a confused voice and a frown on his
face.

“Yes, it is my friend,” I uttered, pulling myself together as good as I can.

"Well, let's go see her,” Winwin says, leading the way to the front door.

"Your grandmother, Luna, and I will meet you guys at the hospital. I'll call your brother on our way there and inform him of Brianna's condition,” mom called out. “I better not see you anywhere near the hospital or our son's.” She threatens dad, then turns to Luna and Charlotte and says I don't want to ever see either one of you in my house again.”

I sat in the back of my car, feeling relieved that I had another chance with
Brianna. I was also worried about how she was going to take the news about losing
our baby.
