A couple moons ago

The snow fell harshly on this chilly winter night. The trees blew fiercely through the icy winds. Mounts of snow piling up everywhere. A small rabbit scurrying to safety. The frozen north was merciless yes. Cold, windy, isolated from the rest of society- but it was home for her.

A cozy cabin sat by some frost covered trees. Smoke puffing from the chimney. Delicious smells pouring out from the inside, someone was cooking.

Glitter drops hummed happily as she used her magic to stir the pot on the fire. She was making her own homemade tomato soup. She had recently gone out shopping to make a special meal for her and her best friend Tempest. Tempest hadn't been feeling so well lately, so she thought what better way to put her friend in a good mood than a hot tasty soup!

"Soup's almost done Fizzy." Glitter said from the kitchen. "What would you like to drink? Coffee or tea?"

"For the last time I'm not s-siCK, ACHOO!" She sneezed loudly. Knocking herself down.

"Coffee." She asked again. "Or tea?"

"...tea." Tempest grumbled. Snuggling her head deep into the blanket around her like a hermit crab. She hated to admit it but she really was sick. All that hunting and fighting and stuff was really tiring her out. She hadn't felt this worn out since she trained princess Flurry heart. Now that was really something.

She and Glitter had lived here for many years now. Ever since the two reunited, they reconnected their friendship and started hanging out again more than ever. Since she had no where else to go, Glitter let Tempest live with her in her Uncle's cabin in the frozen north. That and it was her job to keep the monsters from outside at bay, hired by princess Cadence herself! So yeah. She was doing pretty well for herself, apart from some spooky monsters and the occasional summon from Twilight, nothing really crazy happened.

Until today.

"So-" Glitter began, trotting towards her with the soup and tea. "How's that cough doing? Better?"

"Yep. I'm doing WAY better than yesterday." She lied. "I bet I'll be back out on the field in no ti-" She fell into another coughing fit. Glitter patted her back as she sat down beside her. Placing her meal on the table.

"Fizzy. I know you hate having to sit around and do nothing, but you'll never get better if you don't rest." She said quite concerned.

"Rest? HAH! Who needs rest? Not me that's for sure. Winners never quit and quitters never win! That's my motto."

"Fizzy-"

"Seriously I'm fine!" Tempest said reassuring her worried friend. "I can fight this."

"But that's the problem." Glitter said. "This isn't like fighting evil bad guys or monsters. Sometimes you just have to give yourself a break. Give yourself time to heal or your never going to get better, if anything it's going to get worse if you fight this."

Tempest grumbled again as she fell deeper into her blanket, mumbling.

Glitter sighed. Even after all these years Tempest was still as stubborn as ever, if not more as she had gotten older. But she was used to it by now, and used to making sure she stopped when it was time to stop. Tempest had always had a habit of charging ahead horn first, that's actually what made her so good at her job, she was fearless! (Maybe a little too fearless.)

As they sat on the couch, Tempest silently slurping her soup, Glitter decided to change the subject, since she was at least eating now.

"So.." She started. "How's Princess Cadence doing?" She asked.
