Luster walked through the halls reading up on her favorite books, ignoring everyone around her. While she enjoyed all the time she spent with her friends, she often missed reading up on the latest chapters of hooves of legends and dragons keep, things like that. She figured she could take some time off on catching up on her favorite novels.
She thought back on what happened yesterday. After Melody left the library- Luster noticed she was acting a bit..off, at least more than usual. She asked if something was wrong, but just dismissed it. Saying it was nothing, but it was clearly something. Maybe she was having that weird feeling again? Or maybe something her father had said after she left... she couldn't tell.
As Luster continued, she didn't notice herself bump into someone, causing all her books to fall out onto the ground in a tumble.
"Oh, sorry about that." Luster said picking up her books. She looked up and saw a familiar face. The changeling boy.
"Oh hey, it's you again. We bumped into the library before-"
Quickly, the boy fluttered off before she could finish her sentence. Ok, that was a bit rude, but whatever. They never really spoke to each other before anyhow. She shook it off as she continued on her way. She walked and walked up the stairs, following the tune of the violin until she made it to the room. As she walked in, she notice Melody at the window again, looks like someone was practicing.
"Wow, your improving." Luster commented. "I didn't know you could get any better."
"Oh uh, yeah. I thought I'd get some more practice in." Melody replied. "Just felt like it you know, hardly have the time... Anyways what's up?" She asked placing the instrument down beside her.
"Oh nothing, just got a bunch of cool new books from the library." She said showing off all her favorite novels confidently. "Warriors journey, Seapony's lament, The dragon and the breezies-"
"What on earth are you talking about?" Melody asked oddly. "I've never heard of any of these books before. Are you sure your not making these up?"
"What? Of course not their all right here, wait! You've never heard of Seapony's lament!?" Luster gasped in shock.
"...Uh no. Is that supposed to be something I should know?"
"Are you kidding me!? Seapony's lament is the BEST! Anypony who knows anything has read it, you can't really call yourself a fan of true literature if you haven't." Luster paused, noticing her expression. "Then again, it's a very popular book in Equestria. They probably don't publish it as far as Abyssinia huh?"
Melody sighed. "No they don't. I must admit there are many books I admire as well, but I've doubt you've heard of any of them. We might as well be from different worlds."
"Oh..." Luster mumbled. She had forgotten that she was from another country millions of miles away. Everything was so different to her, the books, the mannerisms, everything. They were complete opposites, and yet still friends.
"What's this one?" Melody asked, points towards a book at the bottom of the pile. Luster levitated the book away from the rest of the pile and floated it over to them, squinting at the title.
"Hmmm..." Luster mumbled, scanning the cover carefully. "Looks like some kind of spell book? Old ponish maybe?" She said blowing off the dust into the air, quickly coughing after.
"An antient spell book!?" Melody asked excitedly, sparkles glimmering from her eyes. "You don't suppose- we could open it for a look do you? Just a quiiiiick peek?" She asked eagerly. Luster smiled at her enthusiasm.
"Well, I suppose it wouldn't hurt." Luster said opening the book. Inside were old scripts of blurry words of old. Pages coated in dust and cobwebs. She blew the remaining dust away as she began reading what was inside. "Ahem. Let's see-
