The Plan

(A few days earlier)

The wind blew harshly across the frozen north. The grey clouds filling up the sky. Nothing but snow and ice for miles and miles in every direction. And on the very edge of this chilly wasteland, was a fortress. An old stone fortress hidden in the depths of the snowy dunes. Isolated and alone this building stands, frozen in time for centuries, never seen by another pony soul. But alas, this place is a bit more lively then it seems.

Deep inside it's thick walls, beyond the iron door, down deep into the halls, shadows zipped across all the rooms from west to east. Up the walls, crawling through the spaces and cracks of every nook and cranny. Due to how dim the place was, shadows were free to roam around wherever they pleased, inside of course. There was a spell casted onto the place blocking the majority of the shadows from leaving. Here they were free to be themselves, to do whatever they wanted whenever. Though after a couple thousand years, it was a bit difficult dealing with one another, but over all they all got along.

A dark figure trotted across the cobblestone floor, all other shadows scurrying out of the way. He was a shadow too, but he was unique. Stronger than all the rest. He was the most powerful of them all, apart from Astelle of course. She was their queen, though that's a different story for another day. As he walked past the candle lit path- he wondered to himself.

"Sigh, another day in this dreary husk of a prison. We've already been here for thousands of years. The shadows are starting to get restless... For how much longer will we be stuck here? For when will we see our land again? Not for a while I assume, for there is still so much to be done. But our time is drawing near, I can feel it."

Shadow stopped as he found what he was looking for. He stood in front of a wooden door, surrounded by spiderwebs and dust.

"Looks like someone hasn't been dusting." Shadow thought to himself with an annoyed glare. Though he shouldn't be surprised by now, she was always forgetting to tidy up. Not like he blamed her, this place was falling apart every day. Shadow was just about to knock when two familiar figures blocked his way.

"Cluto, Gregor, what are you two doing here?" Shadow asked.

"Evening to you to boss." Gregor said. "Lovely weather were having today. Oh wait, the weather's always shit."

"Wheeze, so true." Cluto said.

"Enough of your stupid jokes." Shadow replied. "I don't have the time today."

"What are you talking about?" Gregor asked. "We have all the time in the world! It's not like were going anywhere."

"Yeah, because we're banished for eternity!" Cluto laughed. "Stuck together forever remember?"

"Well that won't be the case for much longer." Shadow said. "The time will come-"

"Oh come on shadow, you've been saying that for the past two centuries!" Gregor exclaimed. "All about, our time will come and all that junk. Well news flash, it's been ten thousands years already! Ten thousand LONG years! It's not gonna happen, just admit were stuck here."

"We won't!" Shadow exclaimed. "I know it has been quite some time since we were out and about but I assure you, our day is coming. The prophecy will soon be full-filled!"

"Uh huh, sure shadow." Gregor said. "I sure liked to think your right. I don't know how much longer I can put up with this butt clown." He said looking over to Cluto.

"Hey! Who are you calling a clown?"

"Your a brainless idiot who can't even devour a single pony soul. Even if their was an opportunity right under your nose you'd miss it. Your brain is emptier than a casket.
