Arima Kousei POV:

My life had always been difficult and painful but with the help of my father and my girlfriend, Kaori who's currently with me, I was able to endure everything. I still feel the effects of cancer as I still feel really weak but when I play the piano, I feel happy.

"You look pale, Kousei," Dad commented after we have entered his office room in the hospital, then, he began to ask Elijah, "He's drinking his vitamins and medicines, correct?"

I know that I feel lightheaded for now but I don't feel that much need to be babied. "Dad, don't worry too much about me."

Elijah and Kaori bowed at my father while he helped me sit on a couch. I may be twenty-five years old now but my father couldn't stop looking at me as if I'm still the fifteen years old boy who almost passed away ten years ago.

"Don't worry, sir," Elijah replied to him. "His nurses always attend to him."

"Why are we here in the hospital, anyway?" Kaori asked me. "Is there any reason why we visited your father?"

Kaori looked at me in surprise when my hands gripped her hands tightly. I had never told anyone my plan today before I get to talk to my doctor again.

"My girlfriend doesn't know this, dad," I told him. "Can I introduce her to the family? Will they be able to make me marry her?"

My father, Kaori, and my closest bodyguard were shocked by what I said. I don't care, though. I know that I'm old enough to marry anyone whom I love. Kaori and I had been in a relationship for years now.

"If it was me, I will allow you," he replied to me. "I'm allowing you to introduce her to the family, Kousei."

My happy tears rolled off my cheeks. "Prince Leonard will give us his blessing, too, right? Would the king, my grandfather, would say the same? I know that I have to ask their permission before I get married to her."

"Are you willing to marry my son, Kaori?" Dad asked her. She's shaking next to me and I'm sure she's taken aback by what I said but I hope she's ready to stay by my side. "It also means becoming a member of the royal family."

"There's something in me that I wanted to say yes, sir but I don't know what to say, sir," she replied to him. "Becoming a royalty never passed through my mind. I hope you give me time to think about this."

Kaori rose from his seat in my shock and since I was shocked by what she just did, I had to stand up myself, too to stop her and hold her hand. "Are you afraid to become my wife? Is it too much to ask?"

"Kousei!" Her glimmering gray eyes were suddenly filled with tears. "Please, let me digest what you just asked your father."

There's nothing I can do right now and she may have been too overwhelmed by what I did. Even if I am an earl, there's still a lot that I do to help our dynasty. "I apologize. You may be too appalled by what I said to my dad."
