Arima Kousei POV:
I don't know what happened but I became aware that Kaori doesn't seem to be happy in her new position in my family for a few weeks no matter how much I help her adapt. She became distant and her smile in public wasn't the smile she had before I had her as my future wife but she's become more refined and elegant in my eyes. The only thing that I don't want her to lose was her strength as a woman. She's ferocious, confident, and independent. If marrying me would leave her becoming blank and somber, I would regret asking her to be a naturalized British Woman. I want to have the 'Kaori' I knew when she wasn't yet my future wife. As an earl, I represent my father and the king in many banquets, family gatherings, and many business meetings with the knighted people.
People may say that we don't participate in politics and my passion for music was just my way of showing that I'm working but our words and appearance have a lot of power in them. I know that when I go to those meetings, the king gave me a mission. It has to be executed, and since my father was mostly busy taking care of many nobles, the extra jobs he has as a prince would be passed down to me.
On the third Sunday of April, Kaori was already baptized in the Church of England. I saw her willingness to marry me even if I know, there's something she wasn't telling me. Her eyes were shining in excitement and when our eyes met after she rose at the altar beside the priest, my worries had all gone away. There may have just been a storm inside her a few days ago and she's finally ad.apting to my way of life. I'm glad that she's becoming happy with her new position, now.
Days after Kaori was baptized, we were invited to Kensington Palace for a family banquet when I saw her fiddling with her ring and she looked nervous again. Since we came to the palace for a formal gathering, my team made her wear a blue gown with diamonds on the sleeves and also, gave her a gold necklace. I know that she's afraid to be around them again because of the pressure of agreeing to marry me but as long as I am with her, I'll give her all of my love. She won't need to fear anything at all as long as I'm around her.
"You gave me strength when I wasn't strong like you," I said to her as I placed back her hair from the back of her ears and gripped her hands tightly. "Let me give you the strength that you gave me before."
"I just did it because of my selfishness, Kousei!" Kaori cried out to me. "I— I—I thought that I was going to be dying years ago but my dream to play again with you gave me strength."
I kissed her forehead again and wrapped my arms around her waist. "Don't you know how beautiful you are, Kaori? My family may not be that happy that it's you that I'm going to marry but we have the King's blessing, Kaori! Smile, Kaori. Don't forget that you're my one and only."
Kaori's cheeks went red. "Your tongue is always sweet. Ants may suddenly crawl on us."
I chuckled at her answer as I held her right hand. "Don't be too nervous. They're your family now, too."
