Kai's POV
I was running all along the edge of the dance floor, scanning the crowd fervently. The lights and constant flow of moving bodies was making my search for Evie damn near impossible.
Still no sign of her. Fuck!
I tried to tell myself I needed to calm down so I could focus.
I could see my associate on the opposite side, he motioned to me that he wasn't doing any better than me.
I was just about to give up and head outside and try my luck there when something caught my eye in the back corner of the room, behind the dance floor and almost out of sight. I don't know what made me look over there but I'm glad I did. I saw them heading to a door where a hallway to the employee locker rooms were.
And also where the back door was located.
It was a guy with silverish hair half carrying, half dragging along a girl in a green shirt. No one seemed to notice or give a shit that she was being taken away.
I looked back at my coworker and motioned to head towards the hallway and we both bolted in that direction.
By the time we caught up he hadn't made it to the back door, thank fuck.
"HEY YOU! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" I bellowed, my voice echoing in the small space.
The man was smart enough to stop dead in his tracks. He half turned to me, still trying to hold up Evie, it was hard to tell if he was shaking from struggling or fear. She hadn't noticed me yet but judging from her half dazed look and stumbling posture, she was either really drunk or she's been drugged. Either way, this man is going to need a really good excuse why I shouldn't maim him or he's dead.
He looked around frantically, still trembling. "Oh, sorry, my girlfriend and I were just trying to leave. She's had a little bit too much." He kept avoiding my gaze while stuttering out that pathetic excuse.
"Oh yeah?" I mocked. "That's kinda funny seeing as how I brought her here." Evie seemed to pick up on my voice finally. She tried to turn her attention to me but was struggling in his grip.
"Kai." She cried out groggily. Her hand came up to lamely push the guy off her. He tightened his hold on her arm and tried to drag her further down the hall.
I glanced at my associate and without speaking we slowly stalked towards him, trying to stay far apart so hopefully we can surround them.
The man glanced over his shoulder at us one last time before making a run for it. He let go of Evie, she made a loud thump sound as she crumbled to the floor because she was unable to stay on her feet.
I rushed straight to her, gently lifting her up in my arms and cradling her close while my man chased him down. The moron didn't even make it to the door before being body slammed to the ground.
"Get him out of here. But don't kill him yet." I called out.
"You got it, bro." He responded while digging his knee in the guys back and yanking his arms backwards to subdue him.
I carried Evie to the back door, taking a moment to swiftly kick this asshole in the face on my way out. He let out a whine and coughed up some blood, making me feel just a little bit happier.
Once we were outside again, the broad daylight almost blinded us. Evie made a soft whimpering sound and buried her face in my chest to block out the brightness.
Some girls who work at the club were outside on a smoke break, stopped to look at us.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" One of them asked me.
