If any of you saw I changed the title of the last chapter to this one, is because it was a little premature to name it when the actual "consequences" hadn't happened yet lol
And also, sexual content warning, includes degradation.
Evie's POV
After work I stopped by the nearest grocery store and used some of the cash Kai gave me to buy food.
That'll show him.
I managed to get enough that should last me for awhile.
I even had a couple dollars left over and thought it would be pretty funny if I used his own money to use towards the loan.
Eve, criminal evil genius mastermind. At your service.
I made a quick stop at an ATM and pulled out the rest of the money I was going to add to the loan on this paycheck and then finally headed home.
As I turned the corner onto my street and got just a few yards away from my apartment building, I recognized a familiar car idling out front; Kai's.
Just great. Another unannounced visit.
I walked quickly passed the SVU, ignoring the vehicle and went straight to the lobby and up the elevator to my floor.
When I entered my apartment I wasn't too surprised to see him lounging on my couch as usual.
I took a sharp intake of breath without even realizing it.
How am I ever going to get over this crush with him?
Without looking at me, "there you are. I thought you would've been home like two hours ago."
This is it. The perfect opportunity for my witty comebacks. Quick, think fast!
"Oh, I'm sorry. Did I not go over my daily itinerary with you today? I had a couple of errands to run after work." I turned my back before I could see his reaction to my sarcastic tone and went to put away my groceries.
He was silent.
What? No promises to punish me?
Once I had finished, I steeled my nerves to turn and face him. He hadn't moved at all from the couch. His cold calculating gaze fixated on me.
Finally he spoke. "So, have you heard from Cameron lately?"
I don't know where the question came from but I could feel my jaw dropping in shock from the suddenness of it.
"No. Not since he called last week. Why?" I asked.
Kai's expression changed, like he looked more relaxed now.
"No reason. Just making sure." He stood up and walked towards me. I started backing away, not too sure I could trust myself around him right now. Part of me wanted to hit him, another part desperately wanted him to take me again.
I needed something to distract him, and me. I remembered the money in my purse and turned to get it fast. Handing him the envelope with a mere ninety-three dollars inside. Hardly anything to brag about but it was still something.
"Here. It's actually kinda lucky you stopped by so I wouldn't have to meet you later. It's not a lot I know but I figured something is better than nothing." I handed it to him, avoiding his face.
He took the money from me without any complaint this time and counted it like the last time. "I'll make sure it's added later." And stuffed the envelope in his pocket.
