*authors note*
Ok, I promise this is the last time I bother you guys and keep you from reading, LOL.
I'm very pleased with this new ending and I hope you guys are too.
I've already made a promise to myself that I won't change it or take it down again if someone doesn't like it. With that being said, this is still supposed to be a dark romance so here's another warning for some sexual abuse so please be aware.
It's also a little bit longer to make up for everything.
Enjoy 👍🏻

Readers, I understand that some of you are deeply upset about this chapter and I don't want to sound insensitive but I've already finished this book and am working on the second so I don't have time to come back and rewrite something that will please everyone. Because the fact of the matter is, not everyone's going to be satisfied, that's just how it is. Now with that said, if you want to walk away and stop reading because you feel this chapter is too abusive and non consensual, I totally understand but I already made the decision to keep the chapter how it is.
So if this chapter upsets you, please accept my deepest apologies but I won't be changing it and I hope you can accept that and stop leaving so many comments on it.Thank you guys ❤️
Evie's POV
Five days have passed since I last saw or heard from Kai. The first three nights alone were the worst, I spent all night crying. Then I would have to get up and go to work like normal.
The day after I told Kai I thought we needed a break, I showed up for work, huge bags under my blood shot eyes. All my coworkers were concerned and tried to ask me delicate questions. All of which I politely told them that I didn't want to talk about it. So they left me alone. My bruised neck healed quickly enough so I could use makeup to cover them after the third day and nobody seemed to know.
I went about my days as best as I could. They all blurred together and I eventually stopped trying to recognize customers faces.
I picked up as many extra shifts as I possibly could to make up for the lost time.
But no matter how much I spent out of my apartment during the day, I still had to go home eventually and deal with my thoughts all by myself.
I was constantly checking my phone, hoping to see a missed call or text from him.
Nothing.
The night of the fifth day, I had just gotten home from a double, and it was payday. Brent handed me my pay stub at work which I was taking out of my purse now and going over my wages. I had settled on the couch in front of the tv, trying to budget. I'd have enough for rent and utilities. After taking into account how much I would probably have to put towards the loan this check, I would have just a couple dollars left for the rest of my essentials.
Wow, I sure do love being broke as fuck.
I ran my fingers through my hair, resting my head down in my hands and trying not to have another breakdown again today.
I heard a loud knock at the door that startled me.
My heart started racing and my hands felt shaky.
I got up to go see who it was. Even though I couldn't see his face clearly, there was no way to forget him. I opened the door too eagerly to greet Kai.
I hadn't realized how much I missed him.
Did his hair get longer? How much could a person change in just a few days?
