Kai's POV

I kneeled on the grimy asphalt in silence as Roy told me everything that happened while I was at the hospital, down to the last tiny detail he could recall.

I looked down to see my hands were shaking uncontrollably from rage and stuffed them in my pockets to keep still.

My anger was rising.

Whoever these fuckers are, are gonna regret fucking with me.

"An- and then-" Roy was sniffing, still crying but he was slowly getting control of himself. He pulled out a wrinkled piece of paper from his pocket and held it out for me.

I took it and began to unfold it.

"They told me to give this to you." He finally finished telling his story, watching as I read the note.

If you want the bitch back ALIVE, meet us in the industrial district.
Red building on the right.
$100,000 cash.
Just you.
Call the cops and she'll burn.

I read the paper over and over. Whoever made it didn't want their handwriting recognized so they used big mismatched letters cut out of magazines and glued it sloppily on.

They have the balls to threaten Evie AND demand money from me? Just who the fuck is behind this?

There was no mention of my family or anyone associated with the Carisi clan, this screams 'personal vendetta' at me.

But I couldn't for the life of me think of who I pissed off so much and still let them live that they would go to these lengths for revenge.

And as far as I knew, no rivals were so angry that they would take it out on an innocent like Evelyn.

"Let's go." I said to Roy without looking at him. I took the paper and shoved it in my pocket.

"Yeah." Roy sniffled one last time and quickly got to his feet. He hopped in the passenger seat while I got behind the wheel and then we were off.

I called Ian from my phone as I sped towards the industrial district. He answered on the first ring.

"What's go-"

"Meet me at the old abandoned industrial district. There's gonna be a red building towards the right side. Hurry. And bring the bag." And ended the call.

"But the note-" Roy started.

"Fuck it. If they expect me to just roll over for them, they have another thing coming. You know why people have called me a dragon? I like to burn shit to the ground." I said severely.

Roy's eyes widened in fear.

I couldn't suppress the smile from taking over my expression.

I shouldn't be enjoying these thoughts so much but I've had quite a long day and these assholes messed with the wrong motherfucker.

Evie's POV

I've now been strapped down to a chair with arm rests and my forearms tied down to them. The pressure from having my hands tied behind my back was relaxed a little.

They take turns punching and kicking me. I don't even have the energy to cry anymore. Everything hurts, even my hair and I didn't know that was possible. Parts of me are broken, they'd have to be with how hard I'm being hit.

I've gone past fear and have just accepted my fate. I don't want to but I'd rather not spend my last moments alive by praying for a miracle that doesn't seem likely to come true.
