I must be out of my fucking mind.I was flabbergasted to say the least.
I was nibbling on my lower lip while trying to make sense of all this.
I mean, besides the obvious fact that he was a stranger, he was an undoubtedly hot one.
And he was offering to pay for this stupid loan that Cam stuck me with.
But I'd have to sleep with him.
But he's hot.
But I don't know the first thing about him.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear him talk.
"-earth to Evelyn. Can you hear me, Sweetheart?"
I shook myself a little and brought my mind back to reality.
"Sorry. I was just thinking. Um... can I think about it? I mean, this is a big choice to make. And I don't want to make a second wrong one to try and correct the first one and end up further in shit."
His brows furled together like he was almost offended that I'm not jumping with excitement.
After a second, he chuckled. "Yeah, sure. Sleep on it. But don't wait too long. I'm just trying to do you a favor but I can always resend my offer." He grabbed his unfinished beer and headed for the door.
Finally, this crazy nightmare was coming to an end.
As he opened the door and stepped out, he turned back to me.
"I'm serious. Don't take too long. I can write a check at any second and we can get started."
My eyes widened.
What is his game?
"Um, uhh. Okay. I'll let you know tomorrow. But can I ask you a question?"
"Shoot."
"What kind of bank would send someone to collect money on a loan like this? What kind of bank could you possibly work for that they would allow such a crazy agreement?"
Now, his eyes widened. Then his mouth cracked open into a wide grin and he laughed, the sound echoing through the hall.
I tried to keep my patience while he got it all out of his system but I still ended up folding my arms and tapping my foot in irritation.
"What's so damn funny?"
He made a motion like he was wiping away tears but I didn't see any.
"You are, Sweetheart. I don't what's cuter, you or the fact that you're clearly so innocent."
Before I could ask him to explain.
"Oh, this is going to be the most fun I've had in years."
And before I could ask him what he meant by THAT.
He leaned in towards me, and I held my breath fearfully.
"I don't work for no bank, Sweetheart. I'm in the mob."
I didn't realize I spoke out loud, my voice coming out so softly. "No fucking way."
He smirked and gently tilted my chin upwards, bringing his mouth so close to mine.
"Believe it. Now, get some rest and I'll talk to you tomorrow." and then he gave me a chaste kiss on the lips.
I really hate how cocky this guy is!
