The rest of my shift seemed to fly by thanks to the constant flow of customers, nagging questions from my coworkers and of course, the persistent ache coming from my inner thighs. And yet, I felt great despite the pain.
Who knew casual sex could be so fucking fantastic!
I had just dropped off an order at one of my tables, turning and heading back to check on another when I accidentally bumped into Melanie.
She made a disgusted sound like 'ugh' and rolled her eyes at me.
Either she was super hungover or still super pissed off. I know she and I never really got along but there's never been this amount of animosity between us and I hated it. I actually really like her and have always thought she was super pretty.
"Uh, hey, Mel? Can we please talk? Like in private?"
"I don't think there's anything to talk about." She tried to walk away but I grabbed her hand to still her.
"Please? Just give me like a few minutes. Please?" I begged.
She jerked her hand away. "Fine. Let's go." I smiled widely, glad to be given the chance to apologize and explain.
We went out back in the alley where it was private. Melanie folded her arms and stuck her hip out dramatically, clearly impatient for me to get this over with.
"Well? What's so important that you needed to keep me from my tips?"
"I just wanted to say I'm sorry about yesterday. If Kai said or did anything rude, I'm sure he didn't mean it. He's actually a pretty decent guy. I can even get you his number if you want to call him sometime."
I paused while she pondered my offer.
When she didn't respond. "I just feel bad that you hate me so much and I'm trying to figure out why. I've always liked you and thought you are a very beautiful person."
Finally, she sighed. "I don't hate you, Evie. I'm actually jealous. You're the one who's super pretty. I've always liked you but I thought you didn't like me, which I guess is why I act cold towards you. I always assume people don't like me so I don't give them a fair chance." She confessed.
Woa, woa, woa. Her jealous of me? No way.
"And I didn't mean to sound super bitchy yesterday when your friend came by. I just was a little hurt when he completely ignored me. So as nice as it might seem, I'm good. You don't need to give me his number. And I doubt he'd even answer me, I think he likes someone else." She wagged her brows at me.
Yeah, we'll just agree to disagree.
As far as I know, Kai only cares about getting his boss's money back, fucking me is just... I don't know, a bonus? But there's no way I can tell anybody about this, I couldn't put them through what Cam put me through. That, and I don't think Kai would appreciate me blabbing either.
I held up my arms, ready for a truce hug. "We good?" I asked hopefully.
She laughed. "Yeah girl. We're good."
We stayed that way for a moment, embracing each other and I felt like a weight I didn't realized I had been carrying was finally lifted off my chest.
Our tender moment ruined when we heard whistles and catcalling hurled at us. We turned to see a group of men walking by but stopped to gawk at us.
Mel and I looked at each other for just a split second, sharing the same thought, and gave them all the finger before heading back inside, giggling uncontrollably.
