As I stood in the doorway, holding onto the paperwork that supposedly said I agreed to pay back twenty grand, this man, this giant, welcomes himself into my apartment.

As he's walking past me to stand in my living room slash bedroom, I can literally feel my hands shaking with fear. Like, this is real. I'm really in deep shit right now. This guy could kill me if I don't pay him back immediately.

What the fuck am I going to do?

Through the haze of my crazy thoughts, I can hear his voice behind me. "Got any beer, Sweetheart?" He calls out to me.

Answering automatically for some reason, probably the server side of me felt compelled, "uh I should have something on the second shelf of the fridge." I responded so fast but I wasn't even sure if it was the correct answer he was hoping for. I was having a hard time getting a grip on my reality.

Plus, it was like close to my bedtime which meant I was tired as hell and this was not the best time to dump this on me.

I finally closed my door and turned around to see him in my kitchen looking in the fridge for the beer.

I still had the paperwork in my hands and was frantically searching for any kind of loophole I could use to help save my ass. I never took any kind of business class and none of these big words or numbers was making any sense to me. I might as well be reading ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.

But from what I could understand, there was nothing I could use to my advantage. It was air tight.

Did Cam know that? If he did, I swear to god...

While he was distracted, I ran over and grabbed my phone off my nightstand and immediately began calling Cam's number.

I'll be damned if I'm getting screwed over like this.

While I waited on pins and needles to hear the excuse he would have for me, I looked over to see that the guy managed to find his beer and was facing me while drinking it, leaning his tall body against my counter.

He was staring at me intensely and I felt warm all of a sudden. His gaze was making me nervous.

I should've never opened that fucking door!

Then I heard the worst possible sound in the world-

We're sorry, the number you are trying to call is disconnected. Thank you.

Click.

My heart sank.

It's official. I'm fucked.

I look back at him nervously, shakily holding onto my phone still. I didn't want to admit to myself that it was over yet. "So, um... Cam's phone says it's disconnected?" My voice started cracking and I was trying so hard not to cry. "And um, I don't- I'm not sure wh-" my voice broke finally and I couldn't keep it in any longer.

I broke down and sobbed.

He set the beer down and rushed over to me. "Hey now, it's alright kid. There's no need to freak out yet. Calm down." He stood in front of me, one hand on my shoulder hesitantly like he wasn't sure how to comfort a crying girl.

I sniffled and tried to wipe my tears away with the long sleeve of my over sized sweatshirt I was wearing but more just flowed out of me. Once this faucet got started it was nearly impossible to stop for quite some time, embarrassingly enough.

We stood there for a moment until I felt like I had my emotions under control, I gently removed his hand so he didn't have keep trying to comfort me.
