"Babe!" Trey yelled as he opened the door, kissed my cheek and hugged me. "Hey momma, how are you feeling today? How's baby sis doing?" He reached over and hugged her as well, then his dad appeared behind him. Trey dapped Alex and we all walked in.
"How are y'all doing? Wow, there's nothing more beautiful than the glow of a pregnant women. How are you doing today Ms. Tami?"
She smiled at him. "Welp I'm hungry and my feet hurt but I guess I'm good standing in this cold ass hallway."
The look on Mr. Neverson's face was priceless and we all laughed.
"Ha ha ha, very funny. Let's get you inside and settled in." He lead mom farther into the house. Alex took the baked macaroni and cheese and the cheesecake we brought into the kitchen.
Mr. Nerverson house is big. Five bedrooms, four and a half baths, finished basement and a pool. It's a really nice house. Trey's room was in the basement. When he stayed with his dad, his boys would come over and they'd all be downstairs playing the game and doing whatever else they could get their hands on. Those were the good ol days. Now things are so tense between them, its like any minute something will go wrong.
He looked me up and down and started smirking. "You gotta girlfriend Nesbit?"
I lightly pushed him. He was wearing a grey sweater that showed the curves of his muscles, a pair of light blue jeans and his grey vans.
Trey put his arm around my shoulder. "Forrest is waiting to see you."
I smiled. "Of course he is."
"Lil here right? I need my rematch." Alex said as he walked back into the foyer and towards the basement.
"Now you know Wood smoked yo ass too. Lil not the only one you need to worry about."
Alex flicked us off as we made our way downstairs.
"Look who finally showed up. Ready to get your ass beat....again?" Forrest asked as we entered. Then he saw me. "My baby here!"
I walked over and gave him a hug. "Hey trouble maker."
"Awwww girl, don't be like that."
"Wood!" Trey said in his serious voice.
He rolled his eyes then went back to the game.
"Aye, I heard there's a hoe in this place that wants a rematch. Oh Alexander!" Khalil said as he walked down the stairs.
"Really big dog? You know what, I'm not even going to go easy on you this time." Alex said settling on the couch next to Wood.
"Big words for a little man. Let's get this party started. Scoot over Wood, its time for the men to play." As he walked over to the couch, he playfully bump into me and I pushed him. He started laughing then got the game set up with Alex and Forrest.
"Hey, you wanna go talk for a minute?" Trey asked me.
I smiled at him. "Sure."
He smiled back. He took my purse and put it into his closet and grabbed his coat. He lead me up the stairs and out the back door towards the garage at the end of the driveway. Inside was a couch, a bar, and an electric fireplace. Mr. Neverson renovated it a few years ago.
Trey turned on the fireplace and we took our coats off before we sat on the couch.
"So what do you wanna talk about?"
He put his arm around me and I leaned into his touch.
"I've been really thinking about what you've said. I'm pissed off and I don't know if I could ever forgive him for what he did but I would not forgive myself if I didn't try. I want to try. I want to repair my relationship with him because he is my dad and he's the only parent I have left. I need to fix this. So I was wondering what you thought about me moving back here."
