Still Adjusting (New Adjustments part 2)

"Hey, excuse me. Can you tell us where Maternity is please?" I asked as we walked up to the nurses station.

She smiled and pointed us in the direction. We walked down a few hallways and through a few double doors and then walked up to nurses station. 

"We're here for Tami Harris."

"Let me see where she is for you. Give me one second." She smiled and then walked behind the desk.

"D!"

I turned around and Que was walking towards us.

"Hey, how was she doing?" I hugged him and he dapped Trey and Alex.

"I don't know man." He says.

"She's in the delivery room. Her water broke and she's a few minutes dilated." The nurse said as she walked back to the front of the desk.

"Okay cool, can we see her?" Alex asked. He's always been a momma boy. 

"Are you family?" She asked.

"Yea, we're here kids." I said pointing to me and Alex.

"Okay, ya'll can go in for a little bit. Everyone else will have to stay out here." She gave us a soft smile.

I turned to Trey and kissed his cheek. "Be right back babe."

The nurse lead Alex and me down to my moms room. We walked in and she was eating ice chips.

"Finally! Took y'all asses forever!" She said between bites. 

"Are you okay?" Alex said moving close to her.

"Yea, I'm good. Just tired. And ready for this baby to get out of me. I'm serious, this is my last child because I'm too old to be doing this shit."

"Mom! Watch your mouth. We're in a hospital." I said moving closer to her.

"Oh hush, I've been cursing since before you were born." She made move for me on the bed and I leaned against her. 

"How long do you have?" Alex asked.

"Eh, I don't know. I'm not feeling much pain right now so I think it might be a long night. But anyway, how was the club?"

"It was okay. I'm tired but I'm just glad you're okay." 

"Yea yea yea, I love ya'll. But ima get some sleep while I still can. I'll call ya'll if I need ya'll. Now get out. When your aunt gets here, send he back for me." 

I kissed her cheek and got up then Alex kissed her forehead.

"Love you ma."

"Love you." 

"Love ya'll too. Go get some rest."

We walked back to the waiting room where Trey, Que, Jos, and Lil were sitting. Trey smiled as soon as he saw me.

"How's she doing?" He asked as I sat next to him.

"She's good. Her contractions aren't painful yet. She's resting now that."

"Excuse me, I'm looking for my sister Tami Harris."

"Hold on one minute ma'am."

"Auntie!" Alex said as he walked over to the nurses station.

"Hey nephew. Where's your sister?"

"Hey auntie." I waved as she turned and smiled.

"Hey baby." She turned back towards Alex. "Where's your mom?"

"She in room 213. You can go on back but she might be sleeping. She kicked us out but want to see you when you got here."

"Okay baby." She hugged him then walked towards moms room.
