"I'm so tired!" Jos said as we walked into class.
"I know, me too girl. But this is our last class and then it's time to eat." We took our usual seats in the middle of the room.
"But we can't leave until we're done with the gym and who knows how long that will take."
"Hmmm, you're right. But hopefully it won't take that long. We have quite a few people on the decorating committee so we should be done before school's out. I honestly can't wait until homecoming to be honest."
"Did Trey ever ask you yet?"
I gave her the 'nah that nigga didn't' look and she started laughing.
"What's so funny? Like I'm debating if I even wanna go now. He hasn't even brought it up and I'm like well damn."
"Is he even going?" She asked.
"Girl yes. I heard him on the phone with Mar this morning talking about getting their hair cut before so they can look extra fly."
"So did Mar ask Khris?"
"I'm not su-" I was cut off by Khris walking into the class with roses and chocolates in her hand.
"Girl....what's up?" Jos asked.
She started smirking and cheesing and what not. "Mar just asked me to homecoming."
"Aw damn." I said as the teacher shut the door and started class.
I can't even lie. I'm hurt af bro! All I wanted to do was have a good time with my friends and my baby. Damn, I guess he has someone else on his mind...
After class was over I went straight to my locker to put my books up and I grabbed my bag and made my way to the lunch room. I grabbed a chicken salad from the front, paid for it and made my way to my regular seat. Soon the room was filled with hungry teenage kids and all types of conversations going on in every direction. Jos came to the table with Khris, Mar and Susie. A few minutes later Kenny, B, and Nae came and sat down.
"Mar where's Trey?" I asked.
"Oh, he had to catch up with one of his teachers for something. Don't ask me which one because I don't know."
I laughed. "Of course you don't. Well anyway I'll catch up with y'all later. I might as well get started on these decorations." I stood up and started grabbing my stuff.
"Wait, you can't leave yet." Khris said.
"Hmmm, why not?" I'm confused.
"Because you can't go without Jos and she's not done with her food yet. It's the buddy system, don't break it!"
"Oh my goodness. Can I at least go to the bathroom?" I asked her.
"Nope. You have to wait. Cross your legs or something."
I looked at her like she was crazy but sat back down. I'm not happy about this.
A few minutes later I was getting up when Trey came through the room with black roses and chocolate in his hands heading towards our table.
"And where do you think you're going?" He asked.
I smiled at him.
"Now I know I'm a little late but babe I love you and I wouldn't want to go to homecoming with nobody else but you. You are the only girl on my mind and I apologize I didn't ask earlier." He laid the stuff on the table and wrapped me in his arms as he kissed my forehead.
"Yea, I know. Took you long enough now can I please go to the bathroom now?" I asked him.
He laughed. "Sure girl. I'll catch up with you later baby." He gave me a quick kiss and handed me the flowers and the chocolate.
"Thank you and okay. I love you." I told him and he said it in return and I left and went straight to the bathroom.
*Later that Day*
"Okay Dria, we're done with the walls and the tables. Is there anything else?" Jessica asked.
I looked over my notes to see what still needed to be done.
"What about the stage area?" I asked.
"Allen's team is handling that."
"Okay, how about the photobooth and the dancefloor?"
"Denna's group is still working on that." Lily said.
"Okay well it would be nice if a few of y'all would help and then the rest are free to go. Everything else is already done." I told them.
"Hey Dria, what about the giveaway prize after the announcements?" Jos asked.
"Oh shoot, I almost forgot. Okay, I'll go talk to Ms. Johnson and probably have her pick up the stuff when we're all done here. Hopefully she will keep them until the dance and I'll just come earlier and set it up." I told her.
"Sounds good to me. Okay, I'll hang these last few things up and then I'm gonna head to the prep rally. Do you want me to wait for you?"
"Nah, that's okay but thank you. I'll hit you up in a few. I have to make sure everything is set."
Once she left, I stayed a little longer to make sure everything was straight and ready. I then walked to Ms. Johnson's office.
"Hello Dria, how's everything coming along?" She asked.
"Everything is done but are you still able to pick up the prizes for the giveaway?"
"Oh my, I'm sorry. I completely forgot about that. I have a meeting after the prep rally so I won't be able to. Would it be too much trouble if you picked it up for me? It's already paid for and I'll just call them and let them know you will be there instead of me."
"Sure, no problem."
"Okay, here is the order number and the information. I will call them in a few minutes to inform them."
She handed me a piece of paper.
"Now get on down to the rally and thank you again. You've been a huge help in this whole process."
"Oh no problem, I'm just glad to help. I will pick these things up on my way home after the game."
"Thank you, now get going."
I left her office then went to my locker to grab my bag and my purse.
"Nah, I texted him yesterday. He acting like he don't know what's up and shit. Fuck his girl and they relationship." Some girl said.
"But what did he say?" Another one asked.
"Some shit like he's happy in his relationship and don't speak down on his girl, that bullshit. Little does he know, I'm going to rock his world."
"When?"
"Homecoming. And he'll never know what hit him. I just can't wait." She said.
Her and her friend started walking towards my way when she somehow dropped her books.
"Oh shoot, here let me help you." I said as I bent down to help.
She looked in my eyes and started smiling.
"Dria, isn't it?" She asked.
"Yea, and you are?"
