"The Phlegethon." Annabeth looked down the cliff at the river of fire below.
Ranboo asked uncertainly, "Well where do we go on from now?"
Annabeth took in a deep breath, "We need to get down there."
"Why?" Percy asked.
"It'll give us energy," Annabeth replied.
Ranboo held the arms of his two human friends and teleported them down. He stumbled back a little but straightened himself immediately.
Percy looked at him worriedly, "Ranboo are you ok? Teleporting so many times in this place must be tiring for you."
"No, no, it's fine." Ranboo smiled, "I'm ok. My energy is already regenerating. I'm not that tired."
Annabeth nodded, "That makes sense. You're not fully human, after all. You won't be affected as much as we will be."
Ranboo looked down at the fire river, "So.... what do we do now that we're down here?"
"We need to drink fire," Annabeth told them.
"What?! Drink fire?!" Percy asked, shocked.
Ranboo stared at her in disbelief, "What do you mean drink fire?"
Annabeth explained, "The Phlegethon gives the damned (damed, the dam joke continues, dam this joke is great!) strength so that they can continue feeling eternal torture. It's like the Underworld equivalent to nectar and ambrosia."
Trembling, Annabeth cupped some fire in her palms and before she can rethink her decision, she drank it.
The feeling of fire burning everywhere inside of her is too strong. Annabeth fell down. She could faintly feel Percy supporting her weight. The burning pain is unbearable.
As quickly as it came, the pain disappeared. She gasped for breath. Annabeth still felt hungry and thirsty, but she also felt new strength.
Percy followed her lead. The same thing happened to him as well. He didn't seem much better than before. Annabeth knew that this fire is the best they will get as an energy source down here.
Annabeth looked to her dual haired friend, "Ranboo?"
Ranboo shook his head, "No thanks. I'm fine." He looked around, "This place doesn't bother me that much for me to want to drink fire."
Percy laughed, "Drink fire, lol that's funny. Never thought I'd say this."
Annabeth shook her head, smiling, "Let's go then, Seaweed Brain and Ranboo."
"I can telepo-" Ranboo begun.
"No." Percy interrupted the enderman hybrid, "You're already tired."
"Save your energy, both for your own health and for dangerous situations where we might need your teleporting powers," Annabeth told him. Tartarus is too dangerous for two demigods. Ranboo is kind of a monster, so he's not really in danger, but Percy and Annabeth will definitely need all the help they can get.
(Line Break)
Nico found Ghostbur strange.
Ghostbur isn't like the other ghosts. He's more.... solid. He's also more colorful than normal ghosts.
The weirdest thing is, Ghostbur doesn't really listen to Nico. He doesn't seem to be from the Underworld at all. Ghostbur seems way too cheerful for a ghost.
So naturally, Nico has to find out more about Ghostbur.
Everyone is still resting from their encounters with the mountain gods. They had all gathered in the dining room with Nico and Ghostbur. They pretended like they were doing something or talking, but Nico knew they were listening in onto Nico and Ghostbur's conversation. He didn't care anyway.
