Arion stopped distracting the turtle once the Argo II got into the straits. Hazel and Arion sped back to the ship. The Argo II was safely harbored in a thin strip of water between land.
Unfortunately... the Argo II is trapped. They can't swim out the other direction, it's a dead end, and the oars are broken so the boat can't fly.
"This is a trap," Hazel realized. The others looked at her.
"Nah, it's fine," Leo said. "Worse that happens, we make repairs. Might take overnight, but I can get the ship flying again."
Piper shrugged, "Well... at least the turtle can't get us. We're safe here."
"Don't jinx it-" Techno warned. Before he could even finish his sentence, an arrow sank into the mainmast, six inches from her face.
Everyone ducked for cover. "Up there, single shooter." Frank informed.
"Who the heck is he? Why is he attacking us?" Quackity whispered. No one answered.
"Um, guys?" Piper's voice was thin and watery. "There's a note."
Techno opened the note and read it out loud. "Stand and deliver."
"What does that mean?" Coach hedge complained. "We are standing. Well, crouching, anyway. And if that guy is expecting a pizza delivery, forget it!"
The pink haired warrior ignored the coach and continued, "This is a robbery. Send two of your party to the top of the cliff with all your valuables. No more than two. Leave the magic horse. No flying, no tricks. Just climb." There was a dangerous glint in his eyes. "Someone would dare rob and trap us..." He growled and continued reading, "I do mean all your valuables. Otherwise my turtle and I will destroy you. You have five minutes."
Coach Hedge cried, "Use the catapults!"
Techno raised an eyebrow and proceeded. "P.S, don't even think about using your catapults."
"Curse it!" The coach fumed, "This guy is good."
"Is the note signed?" Nico spoke.
Techno shook his head. "This guy's got some nerve. I would go up there and end him right then and there, but I have a feeling most of you won't survive if I do that." He glared up at the robber.
"We need to go up there." Eret said. "There's no way we can attack him, he's got too much of an advantage."
Hazel stepped forward, "I'll go." Gale climbed up into her shoulder, which reassured her that this is some sort of test for her. She has to use the mist and be the hero for once.
Except for the fact that I don't know how to use the mist. And aside from the fact that the robber might just kill us all. Everything is great.
"Hazel-" Frank gripped his bow, but Hazel cut him off.
"No, listen, the robber wants valuables. I can go up there, summon gold, jewels, whatever he wants." Hazel explained.
Leo gave her a unbelieving look, "You think he'll actually let us go if we pay him off?"
Nico shook his head, "We don't have much of a choice, between him and the giant turtle..."
Techno sighed, "Looks like this is the best option so far."
Quackity and Ghostbur were off to the side, talking about drugs and Blue. (Is Blue a drug?) They didn't seem fazed, but Hazel caught a flash of worry across Quackity's face before it disappeared. He was definitely listening in to the conversation.
Jason raised his hand. Everyone fell silent. "I'll go too. The letter says two people. I don't like the look of these steps. If Hazel falls... well, I can use the winds to keep us from coming down the hard way."
