Turning the handle, I enter the dungeon, greeted once again by dim lighting. But I had just enough light focused on Christian to see his head and neck slouched down before him, and he didn't look like he was sleeping either.
I run over to him and bend down to his level. "Christian?" I asked insistently. But he didn't respond. I shake his shoulders vigorously, at least that got him into a somewhat blurry haze."Hmm" he groans slightly.
"Christian. Look at me! Are you okay?" I whisper to him, his head raises only slightly, and I'm able to see his tired eyes. He takes in a deep breath but he's still unable to respond to me.
"Are you there? Come back to me Christian, come on...." I urged him with concern in my voice. "Are you okay?", I worried, placing my fingers under his chin to lift his face up.
His eyes connect with mine, and for the first time in days, I knew it was Christian, not that monster. Those crystal blue eyes held profound pain. Those eyes looked too damn innocent and inviting to think they possessed a drop of evil. I feel slightly reassured that I was getting somewhere. Though I didn't know how long the moment will last.
"Yeah, if you count drowning in blood okay...." He groans and his eyes fell the entire story, though he had no intention of showing it. Christian was hurt real bad. But what the hell was I going to do?!
"Look, I can't stop doing this.." I protest in vain as I stood back up and turned away from him, not wanting to witness the pain and anguish in his eyes.
"Sure you can, you just stop!" He protests in anger. One moment, I was talking to old Christian, and within a blink of an eye, I found myself standing in front of Argents monster. "There's no point in trying to bring me back now", he boasts arrogantly.
I limp back to the table until it hit me. Was I really going to inject him with more blood? Was that the only answer? I didn't think so. Christian most likely sensed my confusion. Because what he said next would send shivers down my spine.
"You don't even know if this is going to work, do you? I mean really, you're waisting your time here. In fact, your 'unlikely friend' has been m.i.a for a couple of days now. I played you like a fiddle, and you bought it, every word". His words are sharp and meaning full, no filter needed.
"I doubt that. I doubt that very much" I mentioned as I turn my back to him. My fingers brush against and many syringes left laying on the table. What's the use? Austin warned me that Christian was much too strong to respond to any type of treatment. I didn't want to believe it, but the facts were all too real.
"Does it ever wake you up in the middle of the night, the fact that I chose to follow your demonic father instead you?" He begins to ramble on but I decide to keep his talk out of head. But he took my silence as an indication to go on.
"Guess it finally dawned on me that you're the walking kiss of death, laying waste to everything in your path" he paused and I abruptly turn to face him. His smirk widens when he sees me finally reacting.
"Or maybe, maybe it's to do with the fact that my brother would still be alive if it wasn't for you...". Now that one hit close to home. Christian was going for the low blows, without showing a shred of remorse.
But this isn't Christian talking! I have to remember this. But part of me couldn't help but wonder if he really felt this way deep inside. Though I wouldn't blame him if he did; I blamed myself for months.
"What you need is a harsh doze of reality. You need to realize that you're up against 10,000 men! You can't win Noah, you won't win! Intimidation always finds a way.." He explained but I cut him off abruptly.
