Recap:
He looks at me like a mad women at first until we glance down at Christians unconscious body. "Still want to tame the beast?" He questions me. But I'm too exhausted to talk. I had absolutely no energy left, evident by my slowly decreasing heart rate.
I admit it. I couldn't do it! I couldn't save Christian, though I did try with all I had. I had tried so desperately to help him , to be him again. But it was no use....
It's over...
.................................
He injects the last round of blood into Christian's forearm, in a last attempt to bring him back. Christian has been unconscious for hours now, luckily we managed to get him back into the dungeons.
Austin steps back and placed the syringe on the table. I couldn't help but wonder what was going through Christian's mind right now, whether he's aware of his surroundings or if he could even hear us talking.
"What the hell are we doing to him, Austin? Even after all that blood, he said he didn't wanted to be cured; that it was easier for him this way", I revealed as I fold my arms.
"Well, I could see his point. I don't think he wants to live his life like his, switching back and forth between 2 polarizing personalities; it's taking a huge toll on him. He's is constant pain, though he hides it. He also may be right" he answers and stare at him in disbelief for a quick moment.
"What do you mean 'he may be right'?" I questioned. "Are you saying were going to let Argent win, and have another soldier in his battle lines?".
"There's no cure, Noah" he rapidly fills me in.
"I don't care. Look I'm not ready to give up on him yet! Are you?" I protest in defense. He runs his hands through his hair, frustrated at the situation. His blue eyes burn a whole into me, because he knew I wasn't going anywhere, he knew I was too stubborn to listen to him.
Disturbing our conversation was the sound of chains moving. The sudden noise ends the bickering and we turn our attention to Christian, who was coming out of his unconscious state.
He groans and shakes his head repeatly, perhaps trying to snap out of the haze he was in. His eyes squint tightly before he opens them. He appears confused for a moment, unaware of his surroundings until he looks at me.
I was still a tad skeptical at first, because I didn't know which side of Christian I was talking to. I give a worried look to Austin and he returns the same expression.
"Christian?...". My voice came off a little hesitant as I try to guide him. His brows furrow for a moment until his eyes widened. He looks down and realized he's been chained again.
His eyes fill up with regret instantly when he inspects the bruises on my neck. He opens his mouth to say something but no words came out. He knew exactly what he had done.
What do I do? Do I say anything? Should I say anything at all. I was absolutely speechless. I knew Christian always had it in him, but to go as far as almost strangling me to death terrified me. I was starting to realize that Austin may be right, he's far too strong for any kind of treatment, well, if there was any treatment left.
Just as quickly as our eyes met, they parted. I don't think he could bare to look at me without being reminded what he did.
.......................................
With a cringing look in my face, I rub off all the blood from the lacerations on my neck. I had no idea how bad it looked until I actually saw myself in the mirror. 4 days of sleepless work would do that to you.
