Tick Tock
Tick Tock
Tick Tock
My eyes trailed back and forth as the bell of the antique grandfather clock ticked away. At an instant, I had completely lost the urge to research on my laptop. I left it laying on the other side of the large silk covered bed. No sleep for me tonight! It was about 6:30 am and I have been laying in this bed for as long as I could remember. I was way too scared to even think about leaving this room and exploring the castle.
That previous encounter left me confused beyond belief. I wanted return to my home where I feel safe but at the same time, I knew the situation with Christian was getting worse. Something snapped inside him. What happened in those moments between him leaving my room to him returning and finding me in his dungeons.
Austin warned me sternly before he left to stay away from Christian because he knew just what makes Christian tick. It terrified me that just how rapidly he was able to switch personalities, within a blink of an eye.
I turn over yet again, trying to get some shut eye, but all to no avail. I glanced out the beautifully designed terrace, the wind blows against the red velvet draped in ward. It was almost the break of dawn. I sigh as I finally reach a decision.
I decided to leave the protection of the castle, although I'm not sure how safe and danger free it is due to the fact that this is Christian's castle, you know, the man who has hurt me before and can again if he reaches breaking point!
Retrieving my laptop, I slide open the door ever so delicately, just enough so I could notice the faint, dim lighting of the hallway. I recalled Christian saying that he was just a couple of rooms away so I had to be absolutely quiet.
The door creeks for a split second and I mentally curse at myself. I felt like a teenager sneaking out of my parents house trying to get busted. My heart convulses at the thought of how normal that teenage life sounded, and how I never felt the need to sneak out because I was alone damn it!
I tip toe down the hallway, trying not to get lost in what seemed like a labyrinth. I feel sharp pain again soaring through my left knee, an all too familiar pain that I've been suffering the past couple of days after that nasty landing.
I inwardly smile as the sight of those stairs come into view. But at the same time, it would take me forever to climb down those stairs with a freaking metal brace around knee! I raise a brow and release a smile when my eyes travel down to the intricately carved wooden handles, running the length of the stairs.
I snap my head back, noting a slight movement somewhere near my location in the castle. It could be Christian. I knew I had to act fast so I leaned on the handle and slid myself down.
When I finally reach the ball room, I raced towards the large wooden doors of the entrance. Gosh! How much space does one man need? It took me forever to make it across the ball room, about 70ft and all.
I push down on the handles slowly, trying not make any more unnecessary noises. I stride across the never ending driveway, up to where I had parked my bike the previous night. Thank god I could see it in the dark.
I store my laptop in the compartment and switched the keys on to start the engine. But there was no response from the motorbike. I hit the throttle again, several times, but the result doesn't change. The engine wasn't starting and I didn't know why. It was working perfectly fine last night!
Just when I thought this plan couldn't go more estray, a loud clap of thunder demands my attention. Heavy rain immediately followed. Ohh come on!!! It's bad enough I've only got a white button up shirt attempting to my bra and lace panties, but now it's raining! And on top of that, something's wrong with my bike!
