He's calm; his demeanor doesn't suit one that's just had his ass whopped by a girl. Yet he still retains all the confidence in the world. To top things off, he'll only speak Spanish. The ball was in his court on that one. After all, we're the 'white people' in East LA.
The one way mirror of the interrogation room doesn't help offer us much. Other than a stern look of defiance, he's turned the other cheek. Sebastian was in there trying to extract any information out of this guy.
What's his relation to this drug ring? That question was halted when Sebastian emerges from the room. "Anything?", I asked.
"Goose eggs. He won't even crack a smile", he admits, defeated
"What did I miss", Christians voice interrupts.
"Well, Karen's been living bi-curiously through others and some Harley riding douchebag pulled out all the stops on us", I shrugged with my signature sarcasm, shooting sneaky glare at Karen, still in disbelief that she has the balls to do what she did. She's on the phone with her boss, trying to pull any Intel about this guy. But that doesn't stop her from shooting a glare my way.
"Keep working at him. We gotta know how this drug ring ties back to Argent. And 'bi-curiously'?", he questions, confusion sweeping his face.
"Let's just say French kissing ain't only up you the French. Go ahead and ask her for a replay", I smirked.
"Bite me, Pierce....", she whispers, hanging up the phone before she combs through a thick pile of paper work. I missed how fun it was to get under her skin.
"I bet you'd love that...", I whispered under my breath mostly for Sebastian to here.
"I knew I've seen this guy before. Hector Valentine; one of Malenko's distributors in Cali. A San Juan native, immigrated to the U.S over 3 years ago. Doesn't speak a lick of English, at least not with you", she explained, referring to Sebastian's somewhat unorthodox methods of persuasion. "Rap sheet's mostly auto theft and small-time drug bust. He's a major player in the drug game, but this is the first time he's whipped out his dick like this".
"So what's the deal with this drug game. How is it related to Argent?", I asked.
"We couldn't prove this tied back to him because of the rat in our unit. Your old man's got judges, lawyers and prosecutors on the payroll. This guy won't crack if he's got nothing to lose".
"Then dig deeper. Look at him", I mentioned, and her eyes glance up at the window. "He doesn't look like he's ready to start flapping those gums for anyone. You gotta get personal with this prick. He got any family? Kids?", I pressured.
"A daughter". She replied unimpressed, pressing her balled up fist against her temple.
I shrug my shoulders in frustration at her. And that's when it clicks in her head. "His daughter Lucy...", she announces to herself, like shes just remembered something valuable.
"We pulled some medical records during the investigation. His kids got some form of muscle dystrophy disease...".
Well..maybe it was time to try my own name in persuasion."Here's a hint, genius. Leverage and Language", I admitted, rolling eyes at her.
"What? Why can't I go in there? I know more about this guy than you...", she protests as I lean my back against the door, ready to go in.
"Because you failed Spanish. Right after you called Mr Gonzalez a 'puta' and proceeded to call me a Dyke. Glass houses slater". Revealing a cheeky grin her way, it forced a smile into Christian and Sebastian's faces. Pushing against the door and let myself in, leaning one again on the other side to the door with all the arrogance in the world.
