COUNCIL CHAMBER
Edwin stands before Uther, Arthur, and Morgana. I'm standing slightly behind Morgana's chair as Uther says:
"Name your reward."
"I desire nothing more than the good health of my patient, Sire." Edwin says.
"There must be something I can do for you?" Uther asks him.
"No. I will wait until the Lady Morgana is fully recovered, and then I will be on my way." Edwin says.
"Why don't you stay awhile? You could live here in the palace." Uther says this only for Arthur to look at me, he noticed the way I reacted to what his father just said and asked of Edwin too. I couldn't help but hold my breath at this point as well.
"No. I - I feel I would be trespassing. And you already have a court physician." Edwin says as Uther says back:
"I'm sure Gaius would be glad of your help." I went rigid at his words of Edwin and Gaius working together.
"It is a kind offer, but..." Edwin stops talking now.
"Think about it. Dine with me later. Give me your decision then." Uther says to him.
"To dine with Your Majesty would be a reward in itself."
Edwin bows after saying this to Uther, Morgana, Arthur, and I as he then leaves the council chambers. I told them I was going to go back to my chambers to rest, only when I was going through the corridors that I see Merlin hanging around the door of Edwin's guest chambers.
"Merlin?" I ask only for him to look at me slightly in shock hoping I won't tell anyone that he's here.
Merlin and I knock only to hear nothing as we enter the room.
"Edwin?" We ask out loud to see if he was in his chambers only for us to examine Edwin's equipment. Merlin sees a box that he told me about because Edwin told him about it when he was helping him unpack his things. He opens the bug box, showing small black bugs that are completely still as he closes it to show me the inscription on the cover, to read it.
"Bebeode þe arisan ealdu." We cast the spell as Merlin opens the box to see the bugs moving.
"Very good, you two."
We hear from behind us making me slightly jump as we turn around, Merlin accidentally knocks over a jar with powder in it. He hands the box to Edwin.
"Swefn." Edwin casts the spell as the bugs go still again.
"You both have magic?" Edwin asks us.
"It wasn't us, we didn't do anything." I say to Edwin standing up for myself and Merlin at this point.
"Then how else did you two bring them to life? Only magic can do such a thing. These little angels are how I cured Lady Morgana. They repaired the damage to her brain. They saved her life. Magic can be a force for good." Edwin explains to the two of us again.
"We know." Both of us tell him.
"Then why do you fear it?" He asks us.
"Uther has banned it, it's not permitted." I say this time, narrowing my eyes slightly at him again.
"Should I have let Morgana die?" He asks.
"No." We both say back to him, only for Edwin to nod and say:
"People like us, we have a gift. Do you two not think it should be used to make this a better world?" He asks us.
"Perhaps." Merlin says as he tries to clear up the powder he spilled.
