At almost 4 in the morning,about to go to sleep,I've had a thought- Hear me out,this is a 4 am crazy thought but still hear me out-

Viper and Lucas coming from the same village.

I warned you,crazy 4 am thought

Anyway,my thought process behind this: When Lucas was little,he originally lived in a village with his parents. But,when he was still very small,they sent him away to a village full of water mages,and that's where his backstory actually gets interesting. Still with me? Okay,now Viper. When he was little his village was attacked and he was forced into a dragon slayer. I feel like if the timing matched up (which I dont know and are too lazy to do that much digging,4 am or not),Lucas' original village = Viper's village,therefore making it destroyed and that's why he has no memory of it

Idk it makes sense in my head,but it's also 4 am and will probably sound real stupid later,good night lol
