Zayn walked into the mechanics room and frowned seeing it empty
He looked down at his phone then out at the room number before he looked back into the room
"It's a self-study course"
Zayn jumped and looked around "Huh?"
"There's no professor, it's a self-study course."
"Oh..." Zayn said then rubbed "So uh... What am I exactly talking to?"
"Look to your left"
Zayn looked at his left and at the far end table, stood someone with their back to him
"Oh, sorry, I didn't see you there"
"Good" Zayn scratched his head they sighed "I was laying on the floor, you couldn't have seen me."
Zayn looked at them again "Oh, ok"
"You can leave" They said, finally turning towards Zayn
Zayn froze, though one eye sparkled, a beautiful shade of blue that put the sky to shame
The other was brown, Zayn kept on looking between both, trying to understand HOW that happened but nothing came to his mind
The person frowned "It's rude to stare, you know?"
Zayn cringed and looked away "I'm sorry, I promise I'm not usually this rude"
They shrugged and Zayn back at them "Uh... I'm Zayn"
A blink, then a sigh "Liam. My name is Liam"

For the rest of the day, Zayn's eyes always seemed to find Liam's figure, whether it's in the classes they share, or the cafeteria when they were both free
He always wanted to go and sit with him but he remembers how embarrassing he was earlier that day and would internally cringe and stop himself
He was walking with Louis towards a table when his eyes went to Liam again
"Alright, sit down now"
Zayn blinked and turned to Louis "What?"
Louis forced Zayn to sit down "Sit"
Zayn blinked and looked at the person across from him and smiled "Hi, I'm Zayn"
Louis sat down beside Zayn and motioned "Since his manners seemed to have escaped him, this is Niall. He's my best friend"
Zayn smiled and Niall smiled back with a wave
Zayn looked at Liam then at Louis and Niall "Do you both know Liam?"
Both of them froze, and frowns replaced their smiles, and Zayn's eyes widened
"What? What did I say that's so bad?"
Louis looked at him and forced a smile "Nothing... Its just-" He sighed
Zayn blinked then reeled back "Don't tell me you stopped bring friends with him after his test"
Louis' eyes widened "GOD NO!!" He said then slapped a hand on his mouth
Niall shook his head slowly "It's really... No way to explain what happened"
Louis looked at him "How do YOU know him?"
"Mechanics." Louis and Niall both nodded "What do you mean everything changed?"
Louis ran his fingers through his hair "Nothing, it's not important." Louis leaned ahead "But, you should-"
"What are you all whispering about?"
All 3 jumped back and Zayn saw the girl from earlier leaning closer towards them
She smiled, wiggled her fingers then jogged over to Liam
"Fucking Jessie" Louis cursed and Niall nudged him
"Relax"
Louis shoved him off and rested his elbow on the table with a frown
Zayn blinked "Am... I missing something?"
Louis shook his head "Just some ancient history"
Niall looked at Zayn "Just Louis' jealousy over being replaced"
Louis shoved Niall away "Jokes on you, I'm irreplaceable" Louis looked at Zayn
"Just a bit of advice for you... Stay away from Liam"
Zayn nodded "Stay away from Liam. Got it"

"Hi"
Liam looked up and frowned "Hi?"
Zayn rolled from his toes to his heels "Do you have someone to do the assignment with?"
Liam shook his head then looked down at his screen "I do my assignments alone"
"It's a... Group assignment"
"Yes, I'm an exception"
Zayn pursed his lips and Liam looked at him "What?"
Zayn looked at his feet "I was hoping we could work on the assignment together, that's all..."
Liam gave Zayn a look "Did you not hear what I just said?"
Zayn quickly looked at Liam "No! I did" He cleared his throat "But uh..."
Zayn couldn't find the correct words, he opened and closed his mouth then forced a smile
"Please?"
Liam shook his head then picked his stuff up "Sure" He said as he walked out
Zayn perked up "Really?"
"Yes"
"Waw, I-"
Liam stopped and turned to Zayn "I have other shit I have to do, have to get to Robotics. Go"
Zayn furrowed his brows "How do you know?"
Liam turned around "I heard you worry about it" He said before he walked away
Zayn blinked then shrugged "Thank you"
Liam turned to Zayn "What?"
Zayn smiled "Thank you... For agreeing to work with me"
Liam blinked, nodded, then turned and walked away
Zayn smiled and turned around, he saw Louis and Niall both looking at him
"Waw... You really don't know how to follow instructions"
Zayn laughed and wiggled his fingers "Why should I if I didn't ask for them?"
