"Don't apologize. I understand."

"He caught the Snitch!" Your team yelled in unison.
In a burst of noise, your team flew to the ground where your House's Seeker was standing with the Snitch clearly in hand. Everyone crowded around him and took turns hassling him excitedly. He was a small second year boy who had been underestimated at first, but had proven to be extremely skilled at Quidditch.
The boys on your team proudly praised the young Seeker and the girls all left friendly kisses on his cheek, causing a deep blush to spread on his cheeks. Your team huddled together and screeched with hoots and hollers that left the most positive vibes in the air.
"You guys know what this means, right?" You asked, once everyone quieted down enough to listen; "We're going to the Quidditch Cup!"
Another round of cheers erupted from your team's group cluster. In your field celebration, you caught sight of Severus in the stands. His heart did a happy leap at your victorious smile, and he returned a smirk.
You were glowing with contentment and were burning with determination. The Quidditch Cup would take place the week after your return from Christmas break so you'd have to hit the ground running with practices.
The team dispersed into the locker room, still buzzing with good energy. You changed out of your Quidditch robes quickly so you could grab a shower in your dorm.
You'd be leaving Monday morning to head back home for the Christmas break, so you promised Severus that you'd spend the rest of the weekend with him. After all, it'd be at least three weeks before you were to see him again.
You normally dreaded the walk back to castle after a Quidditch match, but you were in an impeccably good mood. There was nothing that could ruin this for you.
The match had lasted from early that morning until just before lunchtime, so you managed to swing by The Great Hall after you cleaned up to grab a bite to eat. Severus would likely be in his office, considering he spent most of his weekends there.
You checked down the hall both ways before opening his office door. You practically skipped inside, so jittery that you could barely stand still.
"Did you see the way he caught the Snitch??" You squealed, putting your hands on your head in disbelief; "That kid is a natural!"
He chuckled at your lack of a real greeting, but he didn't care. He knew you were on cloud nine.
"That was an extraordinary Quidditch match. You all played very well." He complimented.
You sat on the edge of his desk as you usually did, feet swinging like you were a hyperactive little kid.
"We're going to the Cup, Sev! I'm serious, I think we're going to win it all." You shrieked.
He stood from behind his desk and placed himself in front of you, stilling your legs with his hand. You gripped the collar of his robes and pulled him in to your lips.
He laughed into the kiss, his hand pushing your back to an arch position so you were pressed against him. You pulled away from him and released him from your hold, but he stayed close.
"Oh, must you go home for Christmas?" He asked, feeling an emptiness at the thought of not seeing you until the beginning of the new year.
The truth was, this was the first Christmas where he had an opportunity to spend it with someone. He had always spent holidays by himself. He had never had what one would consider a proper Christmas. He wished you would stay, but he understood that you had other obligations.
