"W-what are you d-doing here?" Anni asked, her face getting paler and paler as she clutched a shirt against her chest.
"Don't you think I should be asking you that question?" I demanded. My whole image of her shattered and left me completely puzzled and off guard. This really wasn't what I was expecting, especially from my best friend. "Im helping out this girl who wouldn't leave me alone."
"Listen, Diana..." She started, guilty tone in her voice, her face scrunched in what seemed like agony.
"Yeah, you can explain. I know how this story goes. Save it."I shot back. I ignored my company and stormed out of the store, shaking my head. My brain would not and could not just take in the image of Anni, shopping at a freaking second hand shop. I was in total outrage.
I left the store in a daze, forgetting about Zoey, forgetting about all the people there who probably overheard everything.
I went home, ignoring the calls that were coming from Anni.
- - - - - - -
The whole evening, the calls kept coming in. I didn't feel like switching off my phone though. Anni's calls had turned into text messages. Knowing that she was the person who wouldn't just like, give up so easily, i decided to open her petty little messages.
I layed and read each one and just sighing.
This is what she had sent:
-Dee, plz, pick up.
-lets talk
-Plz don't tell the others.
-Im sorry I didn't tell you
-Plz plz pick up.
-I'll tell you what happened.
-We are best friends. Come on.
I shut down the phone and decided a nice evening in the tub with some salts and bubbles would relieve all the stress and anxiety boiled up inside. I turned off the volume on my phone and threw it on the bed. Maybe Ill reply to her later. Now was really not the best time. And that stupid girl who got me in this whole mess kept even messaging, thanking me and asking if I as okay. Definitely would need to block her number. Like, get a clue. You're not welcome to the populars.
I set up my tub, shrugged off my clothes and climbed into the soothing water. I closed my eyes and tried to clear all my thoughts from negativity and the vivid image of Anni standing and clutching that hideous shirt. But in the end she was my friend and if she has a valid reason than maybe she can be forgiven. How did she manage to make her clothes look designer? It was unreal. The fabric seemed like it was quality. Damn, im just wanting to go for shopping. Need to get more fabulous clothes to distract myself from the used ones.
That night, I decided to send a text to Anni, after thinking for a long time of what to do. If she wanted to explain herself than I would let her do it. I know she wouldn't leave me alone with the calls and texts.
What I wrote was brief and to the point:
Diana: okay, let's meet at Bella's for frozen yogurt 2morrow. And I didn't tell anyone.
Right away i got a response from her which just made me roll my eyes.
Annie: Oh thank you, thank you. You won't regret it.
To which I replied:
Diana: now plz stop calling and texting, bye.
Thank god, there was no stupid response from her. I already gave her so much as a chance to explain that scenario. And boy did she have a lot of explaining to do. She's a great friend but this has been really eye opening for me. It's hard to believe she was shopping there but she had also dared to lie to her best friend. How damn rude. Shows how much she trusts her friends. Or she's just scared that I will kick her out of our group and then she will be forced to join the geek squad. Eww.
