Chapter 8: Interrogation...and the Strange Eavesdropper
I squealed behind Daniel.
He turned and gave me a glare that told me to keep quiet before walking inside.
"Hello, Mr. Waltz." Daniel said, striding gracefully into the office. He set down his suitcase. "I am Anthony Watson, I represent my client today in hopes to fix a marriage that might be broken. This is," he gestured to me, "My lovely assistant, Miss Ember Stone."
When did he get time to make up all these names and what to say? Even I cant do that even though I am a master at producing different plans and carrying them out.
I nodded to the man and hoped he wouldn't see through my facade. Inside I was trembling from fear and nervousness. I dont know if that was fear for my parents or fear of this big man in an expensive looking grey suit and white tie with a bushy moustache and greying hair.
I've never seen Mr. Waltz before and he has never seen me so its a good thing because he would know something was up if his employees daughter came to visit. My dad is close to being in charge but not yet because of Waltz. He out works my dad and tries everything to get him not be the CEO.
"What is the business you have come to do with me?" He asked, resting back in his leather chair.
"You see, Mason, buddy," Daniel went on and I almost choked. I just couldn't believe he dared to speak to high authority like that. Like, not even I dared to do that.
Hearing Daniel call him like that made Waltz lean back onto his desk, with a big angry look forming on his face.
"I wouldn't do that if I was you," Daniel said cheekily. Then he started to open his suitcase and I looked in because I didn't even know what he had in there. Waltz stood up without speaking and looked in but Daniel grabbed some papers and closed the suitcase fast.
"What is this all about? You came here to interrogate me?" He started to almost yell, his knuckles turning white from his hands being in tight fists.
"You know Richard Pakston? Yeah I'm here for him," Daniel told him ever so calmly. This made me think that he should go to law school after this last school year. He just showed how good he really is at this. Or it can just be him watching CSI or Sherlock on tv too much.
"What does he want from me?" He spat.
"He wants to keep his family together."
"That is none of my concern, he wants to keep his job? Then he must do it. That's the rules. That's how it's been written in the book now. It's how he's going to get paid. You understand me?"
"But why must a successful business man with an amazing loving family break it up now and destroy this family?" Daniel said calmly. "Are you a family destroyer, Mason?
Waltz's face turned tomato red and he shouted, "Listen here, I don't know who the hell you and your lady are but you better get out of my office right now before I get security come escort you out!"
Now, Daniel grinned widely and I just stood listening to this whole scenario. What could I say? I didn't know what Daniel had planned.
"Now, Mr. Waltz, remain your calm. My lovely assistant and I have something that will make you think twice before doing that."
