Soomin froze as she was placed down onto the wooden planks, the fresh smell of nature and pine trees hitting her nose. She turned around, face completely red from embarrassment and the lack of oxygen and she glared at the two boys who stood at the bottom of the short plank staircase.
"What the hell was that." Soomin gasped out, almost feeling nauseated.
"The Chenji express never fails." Jisung stroke a cool pose, thumb and index finger cupping his chin.
"Shouldn't I be the one complaining? I ran over here with you on my shoulder. My arm will be sore for the rest of the week." Chenle whined, rolling his shoulder painfully.
"I didn't ask to be suddenly snatched and get carried all the way over here! I could've walked!"
"But, you see, that's a bit boring isn't it?" Jisung chuckled mischievously.Just when Soomin opened her mouth to continue complaining, Chenle interrupted her.
"Now go on, we didn't bring you here for nothing. Don't keep the person waiting." He gestured her towards the door, sending her a small wink in the meantime.
Soomin dropped her hands in defeat, using her heel to spin around and turn towards the door. She waited till Chenle and Jisung's footsteps began moving in the other direction, before trying the door handle. And unsurprisingly, it worked.
Upon taking a single step into the room, Soomin's jaw dropped. The windows were boarded up, restricting any natural sunshine from coming in, but the room was brightly lit up by dozens of fairy and LED lights hanging almost everywhere. Everything was nice and tidy, and the unbearable dust that usually occupied the room was non-existent.
Looking down, Soomin caught sight of the rose petal path that lead her in the direction of the TV. Upon following it, she reached the couch that was decorated with tons of blankets and comfy pillows, and the huge sign saying 'Netflix' displayed brightly on the large screen.
As she stood there in still a bit of a shock, she heard footsteps and turned around to find Donghyuck there. He had a warm, loving smile on his face and upon looking down, Soomin realized he was holding a small but beautiful bouquet of flowers in his hands.
"Oh? What is this?" The girl gawked, causing Donghyuck to chuckle.
"It's for you." He exclaimed, handing the bouquet to her.
Soomin quickly reacted, taking it into her hands and bringing it up to her nose. She inhaled the sweet scent of the many flowers, a cozy feeling blossoming in the pit of her stomach.
"They smell so nice." She couldn't help but smile as she retracted her face from the bouquet. "Thank you. But Hyuck, why are you doing this?"
"Well, I..." The boy muttered, his hand nervously scratching at the nape of his neck as his eyes fluttered all around the room. "I realized that I never really asked you this properly..."
"Ask me what?" Soomin tilted her head to the side, watching his demeanor with curiosity.
Donghyuck looked back at her, immediately falling into a trance as soon as he saw those honey-pot eyes. They warmed him up on the inside, made him so so happy. As if he was up in the sky, laying on the comfortable plush clouds. That's how she made him feel, just with a simple look.
He couldn't help but burst out a small smile before speaking. "Min... will you be my girlfriend?"
Soomin's mouth dropped open, overtaken by surprise. It was obvious she hadn't expected the question at all.
But after a very short silence, she grasped at herself and immediately beamed. "What did you think I would say? Yes, of course, yes!" She yelped out from the excitement, throwing herself at him.
Her arms slid around his neck as she jumped onto her tip-toes. Donghyuck's hands landed on her waist for support as she had almost tumbled them both over.
He couldn't help but laugh out sweetly, that small rock of anxiety falling off of his wildly beating heart. His arms tightened around her, bringing her so close that he could barely breathe.
"Min... thank you." He whispered into her hair, caressing her head gently.
The girl frowned and backed, looking up at him confused. "Why?"
"You saved me. In all the ways a person can be saved." Donghyuck's eyes were glossy as he looked down at her with such a heartwarming smile that Soomin almost melted.
"You brightened up my dark world. I have no idea who I'd be if I hadn't met you- if I'd have ever found myself without you here. Without you I wouldn't be the person that I am today. So, thank you, Park Soomin. I love you."
The girl's eyes had filled with tears, just as his had. Without hesitation, she buried her face in his chest again, bringing him even closer. Her hands grasped at the soft fabric of his hoodie, holding it tightly. As if she never wanted to let go.
Soomin could feel the boy's chest rise and fall rapidly as he chuckled. "Sorry if that made you sad, I was just being honest."
"No, I'm not sad. I'm happy." She responded, looking up at him with a grin. "I'm happy that you're sharing all of this with me. That you're so open towards me. You've really gone a long way, Hyuck."
"Wouldn't have if it wasn't for you." Donghyuck leaned down, pressing a small, loving kiss to her forehead, leaving the girl all warm and bubbly inside.
"Now, shall we go watch a movie? Treat this as a first date of sorts." He took her hand, beginning to lead her towards the TV area.
And at that moment Soomin could truly say that she felt at home. In that wooden shack, in the middle of the woods on a windy spring evening, she was home.
This chapter is so much cuter with adorable korean OSTs in the background istg
