"I'm sorry for not visiting for so long, Kun."
"Don't worry about it. I'm sure you tried your best to do so." The elder smiled down at the girl, trying his best to relieve her of her guilt.
Soomin attempted at a weak grin, but was obviously too miserable to be able to achieve it.
"So, how are you? Are the guards nice to you? How about Chenle and Jisung? Are they okay?" She blurted out so many questions.
But they were all left unanswered as Kun's cheerful expression flickered into a much more serious one.
"There's no need to beat around the bush, Soomin. I know what you came here for."
The girl swallowed hard, averting her eyes from him. She didn't know what to expect- the last thing she wanted to find out was that Donghyuck simply wanted to get himself in trouble. That he couldn't hold in his rage. Was it because of what happened recently with Sunwoo? Or something else?
"He did it for Jisung."
Soomin's head whirled upward, eyes widening. "What?"
Kun clearly didn't know how to approach the complicated situation, a labored sigh escaping his lips.
"Jisung, he... didn't take being in prison very well. He's very young after all, and despite being in NCT, he has the heart and innocence of gold. It was as if he completely changed: he became quiet and depressed. Knowing him he's probably blaming himself for what happened, despite him not having done anything. I'm sure he told you he's fine so you don't get worried.
Prison is a dangerous place. There is a strict hierarchy here, and being the non-dominant shy type really doesn't place you at the right position. Therefore, whilst the rest of us weren't around, Jisung would get picked on and ridiculed by many other inmates."
Soomin couldn't help but gasp at what Kun said, heart aching at the thought.
"Donghyuck, Chenle and I didn't find out for a really long time. We're still not sure when it started, but a few days ago, Chenle witnessed it for the first time. There was little he could do and got beat up along side Jisung when he tried to defend him. That's when Donghyuck found out. And it wasn't pretty, to say the least. I'm sure he could have killed all of those guys who picked on Jisung if he had the chance."
Kun couldn't help but notice Soomin's extensive silence upon finding out the information, and he leaned forward towards the glass.
"Please don't blame him, Soomin. He's been trying his best, trust me. Despite everything he's going through, he keeps everything in and is focused on getting out of here so he can come to you. But you know Donghyuck- he cares much more about his loved ones that he lets on. Which is probably why he reacted the way he did."
"Don't worry, I don't blame him." Soomin assured with a weak smile. "In all honesty, I'm relieved that he stuck up for Jisung. The poor thing didn't deserve any of that."
"You're relieved? Soomin, I know what happened in the court room. This may cost him his innocence."
"I won't let that happen. Don't worry. Chanyeol and I will do anything and everything to get all of you out." She exclaimed in determination, trying her best to stick her head up high in order to not worry Kun.
"Besides, this is probably not such a bad thing. Everyone will be scared of you guys now." Soomin said slyly, her comment bringing a slight smile to Kun's lips.
"Oh my god Soomin, how can you think like that right now?"
"I have no idea. But trust me, I have a good feeling about this. You guys will walk free, and I'll make sure of it."wholesome :))
