Chapter 6: Always

The group of 5 mutants stared at the spinning machine that held Rouge, the ring moving too quickly for Scott to get a hit. Logan looked at Juliet, "Can you stop it?", she nodded, "I can do better. If I can get up there, I can destroy it without hurting her. The problem is I'll need time.", Logan looked at Jean and Storm, "Storm, get me up there with her. Jean, level me out.", Scott nodded with the plan and Juliet levitated and she began her flight. Logan went with her and the storm stopped when he was stable. Both mutants dropped down into the machine and Juliet ran over to the panel. Her eyes glowing as she pushed her powers into the machine. Magneto used the metal on her boot and threw her backwards and he held Logan up in the air and the power of the machine warped his claws. Juliet's eyes glowed a bright red and she clenched her jaw, "I know what's happened to you Erik Lensherr. But fighting violence with violence gets nothing done.", she moved her hands and he stumbled against her powers. She clenched her jaw and tilted her head as she fought against him and his powers. Her eyes shined brighter and he was knocked out. She stumbled at the use and Logan got Rogue down, a fresh white stripe in her hair. Juliet ripped the components from the machine. And quickly got to Logan and Rogue. Her eyes filling with tears. "No. No. Please.", her tears fell and and Logan caught her as she fell beside him and she wrapped her arms around the girl. "Wake up, please wake up.", Logan felt his heart stop as he looked at his dearest friend, and the woman he loved break down. She held Rogue close and rested her forehead against the young girl's. She kissed her forehead and gasped as she felt Rogue's powers kick in. Her skin on her face began to split and the wound from the pipe returned and blood fell from her body, but she didn't care. Rogue had to wake up. The girl stirred and gasped as she pushed away from Juliet but the woman only held her closer. "It's fine. I'm okay.", Juliet smiled and Rogue fully healed and Juliet dropped, her body slowly healing itself. Logan grabbed Juliet and the other three quickly joined them right as the slashes across her face slowly finished to stitch back together. She was asleep and the Logan carried her back to the jet as Scott carried Rogue. The man looked at Logan, "Does she know?", Logan looked at him, "That you love her as more than a friend?", and Logan clenched his jaw as he ignored the question. His hand running through her hair. He laid her down on the bed closest to his chair and strapped her in and the group flew back to the School.

Juliet woke up to bright lights. She took a deep breath and focused her mind and her breathing so she would calm down. She stood up and removed the wires and needles from her body, the action making her lightly smile. She calmly left the room and went upstairs going into the lounge and looking at the tv and the Senator she watched die talk about how he changed his mind on mutants and cancelled his policy. She frowned until she saw the yellow eyes of the woman stuck by Erik's side. "Well, that's slightly terrifying.", the group looked at her and she smiled as they all stood up and hugged her. "Where is Rogue?", Charles told her and she walked away to find the girl. Rogue looked up at the girl as she walked into the garden and the two hugged. "You're home.", Rogue smiled as her eyes filled with tears. "I am so sorry.", Juliet pulled back from the hug and put her hands on her face, her powers making a small barrier between the two so they could touch. "You don't have to apologize to me, Rogue. For anything. You were dead. Your heart wasn't beating. I couldn't allow that. Your power brought you back. Okay. They saved you and I'm okay. No matter what I will be okay.", Rogue smiled, "Promise?", Juliet nodded, "Promise.", And Juliet kissed her forehead. Logan walked outside and smiled at the two. "Little Witch.", Juliet turned, "Professor wants us.", she nodded and smiled as she nudged Rogue over to Bobby, Kitty, and Johnny. She sent Rogue a look, "You know, solid ice or even a thin layer of it on top. Isn't skin.", Juliet winked and Rogue blushed but smiled. Juliet walked over to Logan looked at her, "What was that?", Juliet laughed and sent him a look, "I'll explain when you're older, Wolfie.", he sent her a look and she smiled, "Race ya.", and she took off. He chuckled and followed after her.

Juliet rounded the corner near the Professor's office and Logan tackled her and jumped up. She glared and he was slammed to the floor as she rushed into the office, "Hey! You're a cheater.", she raised an eyebrow, "I never said we couldn't use powers. Therefore I didn't cheat. Besides. You're heavy. You could've crushed me.", he chuckled and Charles smiled at the two. "Glad to see you two in good spirits. I found something in your mind, Logan. I recognized a face. William Stryker. His father was CIA before I formed the school.", Juliet listened to him. "I saw him in the flashes of both of your memories and found an abandoned facility on Alkali Lake in Canada. It seems to have ties to your past, both of you.", they shared a look, "If you want answers, I would go there.", they shared a look and Charles softly smiled, "You guys are free to go talk about it.", and he dismissed them.

Logan stood in the doorway and Juliet sat on the bed. "Logan, we can make a future here. Together.", he sighed, "I know, Jules. I know. But we need to know the truth before we can truly move on. We both have nightmares and it isn't healthy.", she sent him a look, "So I fill our heads with false happy memories and block out the bad. Logan, we have the chance to be happy. I don't think our past is going to let us be happy. What if we go looking and we go back or our new friends get caught in the cross fire or all of this?", he sent her a look, "You don't have to go.", she shook her head, "Wherever you go, I follow. We made that deal years ago, Logan. It isn't over now. If you really want to go to Canada, we can go. Together. Are you with me?", he smiled at her and walked forward. Resting his head on top of her's, he kissed her forehead and she closed her eyes as her fingers wrapped around his wrists, "Always.", and they nodded. They were going in Canada. Juliet looked at Logan, "I need to tell Rogue so she doesn't think we've abandoned her.", he nodded and grabbed her before using his weight to pin her to the pain, "Of course, but first, we rest.", she chuckled and held him close as she wore a soft smile. Happy to have him in her life.
