Alone Together

Chapter 12: For Them

Juliet sat with Bobby, Storm, and Hank. "We can't just close down the school, some of these kids don't have anywhere to go if this isn't their home. We can't just shut it down.", Hank looked at her and Storm softly smiled, Juliet was back. "We can't just give up. We need to try. The kids need us, now and in the future.", a boy walked in, "I'm sorry. I heard this was a safe place for mutants.", Juliet smiled, "It is. No one is going anywhere. Bobby, Hank, go tell the students the school is staying open. We can give you a room.", Storm smiled at Juliet and she smiled back as she lead the boy to a room, "I'm Juliet. Call me Jules, or Little Witch. Everyone does.", he smiled, "Call me Angel.", she nodded and showed him a room. She walked back downstairs and into the kitchen, Logan walking in. "I need information on Magneto and his plans.", she nodded, "Stay safe, please.", he nodded and kissed her forehead. Bobby smiled as Logan walked out, "Good job.", Logan nodded as Bobby walked into the kitchen and she handed him a soda and some chips. "You're back.", she nodded, "Sorry I left.", he smiled and she smiled back. "Come on. Hank designed some new suits. They work with our powers.", and she lead him downstairs into the XMen command room. She was smiling and laughing, a sound that hadn't been heard often since Alkali Lake.

Logan rushed into the house, covered in dirt and blood. Juliet and Storm looked at him. "What happened?", Hank rounded the corner and Logan spoke, "She's with Magneto and I know where they're going. To Alcatraz.", Juliet looked at Hank, "The boy. Get Pete, Bobby, and Kitty. We need to go. They need our help.", the team nodded and she looked at Logan, "Let's go get suited up.", and they went downstairs. Juliet looked at Logan, "If we had their bodies. I could bring them back. But she, their bodies aren't recoverable.", Logan placed a hand on her cheek, "I know.", he kissed her forehead, "Logan, I don't want you hurt. So when it comes down to it. Let me finish this.", he frowned, "It has to be done.", he softly smiled, "I know. But I don't want you hurt either.", she shrugged, "I'll heal.", and the two grabbed their suits, Juliet's being all black with a plum leather jacket. She pulled her boots on and the group of 7 shared a look. "We got this. We're a team. Remember.", they all nodded and Hank frowned, "Have you ever trained with them?", she looked at him, "I don't need to. I taught 4 out of the 7 of us how to control their powers and fight.", Logan snorted and she grinned, "Keep telling yourself that sweetheart.", she laughed and the 7 got into the jet. Juliet sat behind Storm and Logan sat beside her. They shared a look and then looked at Bobby, Pete, and Kitty. Juliet smiled and nodded at them. They were going to be okay.

Erik sent his lackeys to get shot by the cure and he raised an eyebrow. The humans had learned, no metal. The humans were dissucing strategy but their troops were thirty minutes out. Thankfully, the X-Men were there. Juliet looked at Storm and they went into Stealth mode, landing on the roof of Alcatraz. They left the plane and jumped down. Kitty fazed her and Bobby down, Beast jumped along side Pete, Logan jumped as well, using his claws to slow his fall, and Storm and Juliet levitated down. "Get back! Protect the boy!", they nodded and listened to the woman with glowing violet eyes. She blinked and looked at them. Her jaw clenched as she looked at Jean and Magneto. She swallowed and took a deep breath. "Traitors to their own cause.", Juliet glared and her eyes flashed brighter. "Let's do this.", and the fight was on.

Juliet was fighting with Logan and throwing mutants around as she went. She saw Jaggernaunt ran toward the building, "Kitty!", and the girl nodded. Logan sent her a look and she shrugged. "She can handle it.", she turned and caught a burning car. She threw it back and Magneto sent her a look. Flying burning cars were used as weapons. She dodged and got beside Logan, her eyes landed on a clip of cure shots. Hank, Logan, and Storm shared a look. "Bobby, think you can handle Pyro?", he nodded and she looked at Pete, "Wanna bowl using Logan?", he nodded and she smiled, "Storm, we need cover. And Hank, I need you to not be a politician.", he nodded, "What are you going to do?", she smiled, "Try to not die.", and stood up. "Jean! You know this is wrong. Think of Scott.", Logan's eyes widened and Jean sent her a look. "Juliet!", Jean tried to get into Juliet's head and she tilted her head. "I'm in control now, bitch.", and Jean screamed as the last week was thrown back at her along with past memories. Jean stumbled and Juliet's eyes glowed brighter. She moved her hands and Jean fell. Logan looked at the two as they defeated Erik and he looked at Juliet. "She's beautiful.", and he ran away with the humans. For this was now a mental battle. Jean stood up and levitated toward Juliet. "He doesn't love you.", Juliet glared. "He does. He cares alot about me. Just like you. He saved me from myself.", she tilted her head, "Now we need to save you.", Jean glared, "I don't need saved.", Juliet nodded, "I know. And secretly, they know it to. In fact. Your best friend told me to kill you.", Jean frowned as more images flew through her brain and Juliet got closer. Her skin and suit started deteriorating,the skin grew back, the suit didn't. She landed by Jean and sighed, showing her memories of the two. Jean helping her get control and opening up to others. "Save me. Please.", Juliet sobbed, "I can't, Jean. You have to save yourself.", they hugged and Juliet sighed as she grabbed the cure packet from her pocket. Logan ran forward and grabbed Juliet and stabbed Jean through her. "Logan.", he looked at them both, "You did this for them?", Logan looked at Jean, "I did this for the ones I love.", he looked at Juliet and his claws retracted. She gasped and he grabbed her, "Are you okay. I'm sorry. I knew the cure thing.", she smiled as she healed, "It's fine.", and they softly smiled before looking at Logan, "I can try to bring her back.", Logan shook her head, "She was dead and came back not herself. Let's not try again.", she nodded and looked away. They stood up and Logan grabbed Jean's body and the two went to the jet.

Jean got buried at the school, along side stones for Scott and Charles. Juliet stood in front of the stones as students returned. Bobby ran outside, "Jules!", she turned and wiped her face. "Bobby.", and they smiled at each other. "Angel wants to talk to you.", she nodded and walked inside. She walked down the corridor, and Bobby followed, Logan joined them. "Teachers?", she looked at them, "Logan should do history. Angel, math. It's what you're good at I read your mind. Storm, science. I can do english. Bobby can do physical education and Kitty can do health. Between the five of us it should be okay, for now. We can cover more later. Pete can do life skills. That's 6. 6 adults, we can handle what, 10 children per adult. We can have 60 students for now. Once we get more adults, we can have more students.", they all looked at her and she smiled. "We can do this. For them.", the adults nodded and they were open for business. Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters wasn't closing anytime soon.
