Chapter 5: Imposter Eliminated

Juliet turned on the TV and frowned, "I think I've found where Magneto is going to be.", the tv was showing the political meeting and dinner that was happening in New York that night. Her eyes wandered and she frowned, "I need to see a flat map of New York.", Scott smirked, "We have an interactive holographic table, will that work?", she nodded, "Perfectly.", and the two went to the map as the others stayed to watch the news report. Once it was over they went downstairs to see a pen writing on a white board and Juliet looking over the map. "I know where they are going to be.", she looked at them. "Liberty Island. Magneto is going to force his powers onto Rogue, he'll be weak. Which means he'll have froggy and Sabertooth with him.", Scott spoke, "Mystique too?", she frowned but ignored it. "Would you like to use Cerebro to check my brain is right?", Charles shook his head, "No, I trust you.", she smiled at him. She glanced down, "I'm not a strategic planner so. Logan, Scott. You're up.", she stepped back and the others began to plan and she carefully listened. She tilted her head, "Shouldn't we warn them?", Logan shook his head, "It would cause a panic.", she nodded and looked at the plan. Charles and Jean focusing on all her different thoughts, trying to figure out how she tracked them all. "If all of us go, we'll be okay. We will have an uneven number but it can be like Scooby Doo. Scott, Storm, and Jean can stay together. I'll stay with Logan. We will be okay if we stick together.", they all nodded and she glanced at them, "I'm not wearing your stupid ass suits. No offense, Charles. Tell me, do you have anything in purple?", they all looked at her and her eyes glowed, "Scott did call me witchy and I was nearly burned at the stake as witch. So. A fitting name would be The Witch, right?", and the team smiled. Jean came back with a plum shaded leather jacket, black skinny jeans, and a black t-shirt and thigh high boots. "These will work for now. We will figure something out for you once we get back, Witchy.", she nodded and the team quickly changed. Logan was fidgeting with his suit when he heard Juliet walk in and he held his breath, she looked at him, "Are you okay?", he smiled, "Are you with me?", she smiled at him, "Always.", and the duo went to the hanger with the jet. The group got in and she glanced at Logan, "We're gonna get her back.", she smiled and he nodded, "Of course.", the two got onto the plane and took their seats. "What if we show up on radar?", Scott looked at Logan, "If they can catch us in this thing then they deserve to catch us.", Juliet nodded and she held Logan's hand as they took off. She smiled at him and glanced around. She took a deep breath. She needed to be focused and strong because Rogue was depending on them and she refused to let Rogue down.

The jet landed and the X-Men left the jet and began to make their way into the statue of liberty. "The torch.", the group frowned at the machine and Juliet felt her eyes glow. She levitated and Logan grabbed her ankle and pulled her down, "No. Remember the plan, Jules.", she nodded and the group entered the building. Juliet paused at the door, she felt someone else here. She glanced around and Logan looked at her, "What's wrong, little witch?", she swallowed, "Someone is here.", she glanced around and the group walked forward. Juliet grabbed Logan to prevent him from going through the metal detector and she held her hand out and twisted. The equipment flew into her hand and she smiled, she nudged him through and she followed. She raised an eyebrow and he chuckled. Juliet looked around, "Come on.", and the group moved forward. Logan and Juliet paused again. They shared a look. "Someone is close. Be careful.", Logan went to walk away and Juliet grabbed his arm, "I'm just gonna do a quick sweep.", she nodded and let him go. She glanced around and the others look at her. "Logan has animal like senses, I can sense people's brains. We can tell you how many people are in a room. There's 3 others here. All mutant. Be careful.", Logan walked back around a corner and Juliet sighed. Something was wrong. She stood tall and Scott spoke, "Anything?", Logan shook his head and Juliet tilted hers. "You okay?", he smiled, "Yeah.", and she threw him. "Juliet!", she began to fight Logan and another Logan rounded the corner and looked confused. Scott sighed, "Mystique.", and the woman turned back to her true form. She kicked Juliet and jumped onto Logan, knocking him down and they rolled as she shifted back into him. Scott and Juliet sighed as the two Logans looked at them, "Wait!", they both held out their hands and Juliet's eyes glowed as she tried to pick their brains. One of the Logans slammed the door at the same time the frog and Sabertooth attacked. Scott and Juliet went after Sabertooth as she had separated the group. She glared in annoyance and nodded at the glass ceiling. Scott hit the ceiling as Sabertooth focused on Juliet, seeing her as the biggest threat. He hit her and then head-butted her before he threw her through a glass trophy case. She glared at him and he watched her forehead heal. "You're pissing me off, bub.", and in that moment, Scott realized how much the witch loved and cared for the wolverine. "Get to the girls. I'll handle this bitch.", and Scott nodded. Her eyes glowed and he screamed as his mind began to feel like it was being ripped apart. She moved her hands and her energy filled her fingers. Logan ran around the corner to see her using her powers and her eyes glowing brighter than ever. She pushed her hands toward each other and Sabertooth was knocked out and she tossed him out of the busted sunroof and he landed in a boat outside. She turned and her powers glowed, "You okay?", Logan softly smiled, "Are you with me?", she smiled and her powers faded. Storm, Jean, and Scott ran in and the group began to move up toward the torch.

Magneto had caught them in the head of Lady Liberty. Juliet's eyes were glowing as she looked around. Scott's glassed has been destroyed and they were all ancored to the metal with beams. Logan's claws were facing his heart. Juliet clenched her jaw as her eyes shined more and the metal around them creaked. "Stop.", she glared at Logan, "No you're going to do something stupid.", he sent her a look and she sent one back. "Let me at least try before you-", but it was too late. Logan's claws impaled himself and she clenched her jaw as he fell to the floor, "Logan!", Juliet rolled her eyes, "He'll wake up. The only way to truly kill him is to rip his heart out and cut off his head.", she licked her lips as she glanced around, "But it seems that is the only answer to this. So, don't freak out.", she grabbed a pipe using her powers and it went into her side she fell to the ground dead beside Logan, they woke up around the same time and Logan sent her a look, making her shrug. The team watched them both heal and Juliet looked at the jacket, "Man, I really liked this jacket.", and Logan chuckled as the two worked to get the others down from the wall. Their eyes focusing on the hole Juliet had made in an attempt to stop Magneto.
