Chapter 7: I Have This

Juliet was a few paces behind Logan as they walked through the woods and the snow to reach their destination. Juliet glanced at Logan, "Is the belt buckle really needed?", he sent her a look and she softly smiled. She frowned as she felt a dark energy in her mind and with her powers. "We're close.", she tilted her head and her eyes glowed violet. Something was happening. She swallowed but ignored the feeling as she followed after Logan and a fox moved from the ruins of the facility. She flinched and tilted her head. "Logan. We have to get back. They need us.", he sent her a look and she swallowed. "Something is wrong.", her eyes flashed and he frowned. "Jules, are you okay?", she nodded and Logan sighed. "Okay, let's go.", they left quickly returning to the bike they had taken and beginning their journey to the mansion.

Charles smiled as he felt Juliet in his mind reassuring him they were returning and would be back by nightfall. He sat at the window and she sent him her feelings and he realized it was around the time the mutant attacked the white house. He told her what happened and she tightened her hold on Logan. "You okay?", she blinked, "Are you with me?", he put a hand on hers and squeezed, "Always.", and he sped up, because he had never heard or seen her this worried about something.

Night fell and Rogue smiled as she heard a motorcycle, she jumped up and rushed to the door as it opened, Juliet and Logan walking in. "Logan, Jules.", the three hugged and Juliet felt just a little bit more at peace being back home. Storm ran down the stairs, "Look who came back just in time.", Logan farrowed his eyebrows, "They're going to try to retrieve the mutant that attacked the white house. We have babysitting duty.", Logan sighed and the two looked to the stairs, "Who is this?", Juliet smiled, "That's Bobby. He's the iceman.", the two shook hands as Scott and Jean walked down the stairs, "Jean, Scott?", Juliet hugged the two before she winked at Rogue and Bobby. "Did you know?", she grinned, "I encouraged.", and Logan sent her a look. "Storm and Jean are going to Boston. We can stay here while you're gone. Scott and the Professor have a different mission.", Logan nodded and Juliet felt pain and fear. Her eyes filled with tears and she stumbled. "Juliet!", she clenched her jaw, "They're coming. They're hurting Erik. They know.", her eyes rolled up and she went limp. Logan caught her and the Professor rushed to them. She flinched and woke up with heavy breaths and tears fell down her face. Anger in her eyes. "Go. We can babysit.", her slight accent returned and she looked at Scott and the Professor, "Be careful. Please. Something bad is going to happen.", they nodded and the girls left with the Jet and Scott and the Professor left in one of the cars. Juliet glanced at Logan, her eyes glowing. "Be prepared. I'll tell Rogue, Bobby, Johnny, and the big guy.", she flinched again as images flashed in her brain of war and pain. She swallowed and looked down. Something was coming, something not good. And she had a feeling she knew who was behind it. "Logan, I don't think Erik has anything to do with this. It's humans.", she clenched her jaw, "Go to sleep. I stay awake.", and she went into the main corridor, hidden in a shadow and her eyes glowing.

Hours passed with no chaos and she walked into the den with a soft smile as a child was awake. Logan following. "Can't sleep?", Logan chuckled at her and she tilted her head, "How can you tell?", the boy answered, "Cause you're awake. I don't sleep.", Juliet smiled and heard someone in the kitchen. She walked away and Logan followed, "Doesn't anyone sleep around here?", Bobby and Juliet shared a look, "You're awake aren't you?", Logan opened the fridge, "Any beer?", Juliet sighed, "It's a school for children, Logan. Soda is in the higher cabinets.", she nodded toward a cabinet and she glanced around. Her heart beginning to beat quickly. Logan noticed and her eyes glowed. "We need to get the kids to safety. Quickly.", Bobby looked at her and so did Logan. She stood up and her powers glowed in her hands. Logan and Bobby started making small talk and Juliet clenched her jaw, "C'mon. Enough with the small talk. Please. Logan.", she walked away and the two followed her. She swallowed, "Start evacuating using the tunnels. Wake Rogue, Johnny, and a Big Man. Get the youngest first. The Professor and Scott have been taken. Get to the garage.", she ran to the den and saw the soldiers. She threw up a shield as the boy from the den screamed. The darts richoceted but there were more soldiers. "Go!", One of the girls screamed and the stuff td covered their ears. It was super sonic. The trio got ambushed and the fight was one. Bobby looked at the two adults whose wounds healed and the two adults quickly began fighting their way through the soldiers. Juliet and Logan both got shot and they removed the syringes. Juliet's eyes glowed brighter and she stepped forward as more soldiers walked in, "Wrong house, bub.", and her powers erupted from her body. Logan grabbed the kid that was stunned and ran him to the big guy. Juliet and Logan sperated and Juliet ran into Rogue, Johnny, and Bobby. They ran into more soliders and Juliet glared as Logan jumped. She held her hand out and one of their hearts flew into her hand. Her eyes glowing hard. The kids looked at her and she threw up a shield and it exploded sending soldiers backwards, "Let's go.", Logan and Juliet shoved the kids into the last tunnel door and closed it as two soldiers rounded on them, Juliet's powers shined and Logan was breathing hard. "You okay?", Logan glanced at her, "Are you with me?", and the two stalked forward, "Don't shoot! Not these two.", a man walked forward, "What has it been? 15, 20 years? You two haven't changed at all. But me. Well. Nature.", Logan's claws went away and Juliet stepped forward, her eyes glowing more, "What a shock to see you both here. I didn't realize Xavier was taking in animals.", Juliet growled, "He isn't an animal. You are.", he stalked forward and Juliet shoved Logan backwards with her powers, "You will not harm him again.", a wall of ice formed and she turned, "Logan, go. I can handle this.",     he sent her a look and she softly smiled as she placed a hand on his cheek, "I'll be okay.", he shook his head and Rogue frowned, "We won't be.", Juliet licked her lips and the two adults entered the tunnel.

They got to the garage and and got into be first car they saw. "This is Cyclops' car.", she raised an eyebrow, "He is going to hate us.", and they drove away. She closed her eyes and focused. Trying to find her family. "They have six of the kids. The others all got away. They also have Scott and the Professor. We need to get to Jean and Storm.", he nodded at her and her eyes glowed. "Jules?", she clenched her jaw. She licked her lips and ignored the noise around her, even when Johnny blasted the radio. "We can't go to Bobby's family. They'll be at risks and so will we. We can get a hotel. I won't sleep and neither will you.", he sent her a look, knowing she was right but Jean and Storm needed to be able to find them.
