Chapter 13: Survivors

Storm and Juliet landed the jet and rushed outside to find their friends. Juliet looking around, "We need to get inside.", her hair was a light strawberry blonde shade, her face not much changed from the past. She lead the group in and Logan took her side, their wedding rings glimmering in the light. "Bobby, Kitty.", Juliet hugged the two when a brunette girl with brown eyes rounded the corner, "Mom, Dad.", Logan and Juliet rushed forward and held their daughter, "Scar.", and they sighed in relief. Kitty and Bobby told them what they had been doing and Juliet looked at Erik and Charles, "This could work. But neither of you can go back. The jump would rip your brain apart. So this task falls to me or Logan. And I'm more help here. I can set up barriers, heal wounds, disable the machines. I'm our greatest defense at the last line.", Scarlett looked at her mom, "Logan. I'll be with you when you wake up. Or nearby. I'll go with you. You'll just need to open your mind and be patient. You'll remember having metal bones and claws. I won't remember my powers being enhanced. It may take me a try or two to get in.", Logan nodded and and she held a hand to his cheek, "Please. Be careful. Come back to us.", she kissed him and the group got ready. Logan laid down and Juliet sent Scarlett outside. The brunette having a mix of her mother's and her father's powers. Juliet looked at her daughter, "Be a fighter. Us Howletts are survivors, Scar.", they hugged and the girl hugged her father as well. "I love you, babygirl.", and Scarlett went outside with the others. Kitty, Charles, Juliet, Bobby, and Erik staying in the cave. Juliet stood, "I'll set a barrier.", she moved quickly and a violet barrier was around the door. Juliet clenched her jaw and turned. "If anything happens, I can heal her. Logan, stay calm.", he nodded and screamed out as Kitty sent him back. Juliet rolled her eyes, "He's such a baby. I didn't even scream that much in child birth.", and the others chuckled at her. She sent them all a look. "I can heal wounds, remember that.", and they began their wait.

1973

Logan woke in an apartment and Juliet was nowhere to be found. He sighed and got up, a woman beside him. He shook himself awake and look at himself in the mirror. He nodded and started getting dressed so he could start hi mission to save the future when the door opened. He turned around to see three mafia guys and they started yelling at him. He tried to talk his way out of it but it didn't work. The girl ran from the room and the men raised their guns. The men stopped and Juliet walked in. Her auburn hair was curled and she wore a skirt and a nice top. "Manners gentlemen.", and they dropped to the floor. Juliet looked at him, "I left for five minutes and I come back to this.", she smiled and he grinned, "Hey, baby.", she raised an eyebrow, "Oh, god. Right. Um. I'm me but I'm me from the future.", she nodded and he looked at her, "Look in my mind. I know you can.", she nodded and placed her hands on his head and looked in his mind. She saw everything and softly smiled before nodding, "Let's go find Charles and Erik then.", and she threw him a shirt.

The two got to Xavier's School and Juliet looked at him, "I'm sorry for the suffering we face.", he looked at her, "Howletts are survivors.", she nodded and knocked on the door. Someone answered the door and she frowned, "We are looking for Charles Xavier.", he frowned and she showed him what Logan had shown her. "We really need his help.", Hank opened the door and they walked in. Juliet glanced around, "I'll go. I can explain better.", she walked up the stairs and found Charles in his room.

Charles looked at her, "Who are you?", she softly smiled, "My name is Juliet Barnes. I'm a mutant. I came for your help. We need you. I know you got your powers at 9 and thought you were going crazy until at 12 you realized you weren't. I know you took in a little mutant girl named Raven who was a shifter.", she swallowed, "And I know fifty years from now mutants are being killed. And it's all because Raven kills Bolivar Trask in Paris.", he sent her a look, "I also know that you don't have your powers. So. I'll share mine to convince you. May I?", he looked at her and nodded, "Forgive me. The powers I have now and the powers I have in my memories are slightly different.", she touched his temples and he saw flashes of her and Logan, from their start at the school to before Logan was sent here. "I know 10 years ago you asked Logan for our help and he wasn't very kind. For that, I apologize. But we need you. The mutants need you.", Charles looked at her and she looked down. "Okay. I'll help.", she smiled at him, "Thank you.", and the two went downstairs, "Really? I left you two alone for 5 minutes. Hank, get off the chandelier, you're going to break it. Logan, apologize right now.", the two men quickly listened and she smiled, "Good. Okay. So, we need Erik. Where is he?", and the professor sent Juliet a look, "He didn't tell you?", Logan shook his head, "Well, that's complicated.", and Logan and Juliet shared a look.

The Future

Juliet looked into Logan's mind and sighed. "We found Hank and baby Charles. I must say professor, I'm sure you were a lady-killer.", Charles chuckled at her and she winked at him. She took a deep breath, "You okay?", Kitty nodded and Juliet stood up and went back to the barrier. She tilted her head and Erik looked at her, "It's strong. I can barely sense the metal under it.", she swallowed, "It isn't you I'm worried about. It's them.", she felt like a terrible mother leaving Scarlett out there but she had to have faith. Charles looked at her and she glanced down. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to bring down the mood.", he nodded at her and she sat back down by Logan's head and waited.
