"I'll call you back, Mama. I'm here. Kiss my babies goodnight for me."
Staring up at the towering building above her, Adriana could feel her heart beating against her chest. Despite the hours and preparation and planning, Adriana felt a feeling of dread settle in her stomach, her fingers brushing the gun in her purse. She didn't plan on shooting or killing Marco but without the proper backup or planning, she had a feeling that nothing would go as planned. Glancing at the large sign plastered on the mini brick wall by the building, Adrianna let out a deep sigh.
Gripping the cold metal of the door handle between her hand, Adriana took a deep breath before pulling open the glass double doors. The gleeful chatter came to a halt as soon as she stepped into the building, the only sound being the click of her heels. She recognized a few familiar faces, most of them being associates and employees of her late husbands 'empire'
"Mrs. Narvaez, it's been a while."
Adriana only hummed in response, her mind currently occupied with the thoughts of how she was going to convince Marco to hand over the 'family business.' Recognizing the lady at the front desk, Adriana granted her a small smile before sauntering over to the elevator. She didn't miss the confused gazes of the receptionist and security, but she didn't want to waste any time trying to explain why she was here. She just did what she used to when her husband was in charge, walk into his office.
"I assume Marco is in his office? Do me a favor and let him know I'm here to see him." Brushing past the bewildered head of security, she pressed the button that led the elevator to her.
"Wait, Mrs. Navaez. You can't go up there."
"It's Ms. to you, Damien. I assume he's in his office, right? Radio him or whatever it is you do."
As soon as the elevator doors parted, Adriana wasted no time in entering, pressing the button that led to the top floor. Just as the door began to close, Adrianna could faintly make out the sound of a walkie-talkie, a heavy breath escaping her lips.
"Oh god."

"I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm not. I know what you're here for, Adriana."
"I can guarantee you, you don't."
Letting out a surprised scoff, Marco gazed at her expectantly, motioning for her to continue with a wave of his hand. Clearing her throat, Adriana placed her purse on the glass desk, her fingers brushing against the smooth, cold surface.
The office didn't change one bit. Of course, the family photos were gone (stuffed somewhere in a storage unit), and a few personal items of her late husband, but it seemed Marco made no effort to redecorate the office.
"I have quite a busy schedule today, so, if you don't mind?"
"Meeting with a supplier?" Adriana inquired, standing before the large glass window, overlooking the city of Detroit. Adriana could the subtle movements Marco made from behind her, no doubt getting ready for his departure. "Sure, you could say that."
