Adriana watched the coffee swirl around in the cup as she continued to stir, stir, stir...

"How long?"

"I don't know"

Adriana couldn't deny how mentally checked out she was from the whole ordeal. From the argument with Beth and Annie to her argument with Rio, and finally from her argument with her mom about Rio; she was ready to just fall into bed and never wake up.

She was glad that Rio halted the business as bad as that sounded. A break from everything sounded like heaven on Earth. She yearned for a semblance of normalcy; a calm life with her kids, her mom, and surprisingly, Rio. Someone who she wanted to get to know more about.

Unfortunately, she had about 5 thousand alarm clocks forcing her to wake up called problems. So many problems. Mary, Money, Rent, business, mother, headaches, bills, Beth, the list goes on and on.

"So, what are we gonna do about the secret shoppers?"

Adriana let out a groan at the most recent issue, and suddenly the cup of coffee didn't seem so appealing anymore. She pushed it away, and the girls continued their conversation without a beat, knowing that Adriana was considerably more irritable today.

"What about us?"

"What about us?" Beth repeated, confused at the question Annie presented.

"I mean, what are we supposed to do? Go back to working like dogs and barely scraping by?"

"I guess we go legit for a while."

$$$

"How much?"

"$1900"

Adriana shifted uncomfortably in her chair, partially from the incredibly small number and partially from the foreign pain in her body. She felt the chair creak underneath her as she shifted once again, her face twisting in discomfort as she finally found the source of the pain.

"You alright, there, bud."

Adriana only grunted in response to Annie's question, her hands coming up to soothe the sides of her aching chest.

"Is that it?"

Beth sighed, her shoulders sagging in defeat.

"It's all I can spare."

"Same." Annie chimed.

Beth turned to Adriana who only shrugged, her lips twisting into a frown. Adriana didn't have much of her own to spare. Only 2 grand, from the business, and that's only if the bank allows her to withdraw again for the 11th time this month.

"I can try and squeeze a tiny bit more out of Dean. I'm getting an allowance again. Don't look at me like that, he offered and I took it." Beth hurried out, feeling almost shameful for again accepting money from her husband.
