"What if we hire a hitman?"
Adriana let out a sharp breath at Annie's words, shaking her head in exasperation at the suggestion, ignoring Beth and Ruby's curious glance.
"Why-why would we kill him?"
"Let me finish, we hire a hitman, and then we frame Rio for the murder that the hitman commits."
Adriana let out another sigh, this time of annoyance, as she took a sip of the tea that Beth made to ease the nausea that Adriana constantly seemed to be feeling.
"Oh, well when you put it like that, then..."
"Who's the hitman gonna hit? A random innocent? Some who cuts in line at the Starbucks?"
Adriana let out a mix of a scoff and a laugh, her knee anxiously bouncing underneath the table, Ruby only gazed, curious about what was running through the girl's mind. Adriana, on the other hand, felt nervous after deciding to tell the girls the truth about her and Rio's affair. Her anxiety grew stronger by the minute.
"Oh, there are candidates."
"I'm sure there are."
"Look, nobody said this would be easy, okay?"
"If it was, I'm sure the FBI would've done it."
The girls grew silent as all, well all but one, pondered how to get Rio arrested, something which they decided to do before Rio 'handled' them. A plan that Adriana was partially on board with, despite the hollow feeling in her chest.
"Mind control. Turns himself in."
"And I'm done."
"It's called brainstorming. You throw stuff out, you see what sticks."
"I've been sleeping with Rio."
The table grew silent, looks of confusion and shock being exchanged between the women before finally settling on Adriana whose heart beat wildly in her chest.
"What?"
$$$
"You can't exactly drop a big bomb like that and expect the best reactions."
Adriana snuggled tightly underneath her blanket, listening intently to Annie who was snuggled up next to her, her mind still reeling from the news Adriana had dropped on the other girls. After their mini brainstorming session, and a very long and intense discussion about Adriana and Rio's extracurriculars, the girls had gone their way except for Adriana and Annie who made their way back to Adriana's house.
"Beth looked like she was going to kill me."
"I mean, that's just Beth." Annie waved off Adriana's concern, taking a sip of the wine that Adriana had offered her, before setting it on the nightstand.
