"Are you okay in there? What's your name."
Adriana sucked her teeth, making her displeasure apparent. She frowned at Ruby, surely on edge, before snapping her fingers in Beth's face.
"I robbed a grocery store."
Adriana took a step back, giving Beth a single nod. She took a seat across from Annie, running her hands over the pile of cash that Annie was filing. "Who's secretary of state?" Ruby quizzed. "I robbed a grocery store."
"Who is the secretary of state?" Ruby leaned back from Beth, shifting to face Annie and Adriana. Annie shrugged glancing at Adriana for an answer. "I don't know," She stammered, her eyes glued to Beth's frozen figure.
"Aren't you a teacher?" Annie chortled, leaning on the table.
"English teacher." Adriana countered, checking her phone. She got a few 'remind' questions from her students, but chose to respond later. A missed call from her mom-- which she concluded was presumably not important-- and a text from the superintendent about her fundraiser banquet at the hotel which was taking place tonight.
"We robbed a grocery store," Beth reiterated once again. "Oh, we totally did." Ruby snickered, a wide grin on her face. "And we actually got away with it." Beth, who now seemed more alive, leaned forward in her seat her smile matching Ruby's.
"Like some smooth criminals." They both began to laugh, and Adriana joined in, laughing at their exchange. "How much did we get? Tell me we got the thirty."
Adriana looked at Annie expectantly, catching the slight wavering, she promptly stood from her seat. "Less?" Annie set down the wad of cash in her head, letting out a sigh. "Uh-we got it."
Adriana let out a relieved gasp, strolling over to Beth and Ruby. Ruby clapped her hands together looking up to the sky. "Thank you, god."
Annie stuttered lightly, her eyes flying between the cash in her hand to the girls. "We got more than the thirty grand."
"How much more?" Beth inquired indifferently. Annie reached for the three duffel bags of cash, before emptying out what looked like 100 grand or more. Adriana's eyes protruded out from her head, and Ruby slumped over.

"How is this even possible?"
"Count it again!"
"I counted it right!"
"Count it again!"
"We're going to jail," Adriana groaned over the cries of her best friends. Beth pointed at the cash, her shouts directed at Annie. "You said there would be thirty!"
