Adriana gazed pensively out the window as Beth steered the vibrant yellow truck behind Ruby's vehicle. The truck was loaded with whatever Rio had packed inside. A palpable tension filled the air as they braced themselves for anything to go wrong.

The three trucks veered in out of the lanes, Beth, Annie, and then Ruby all going their separate ways.

"I'd be the Pacino."

"Oh, You'd so be the Joe Pesci."

Adriana couldn't help but chuckle at Beth's lighthearted words as they debated about their roles in a movie. Beth briefly cast a soft, reassuring smile in her direction, her fingers rhythmically tightening and loosening around the wheel, betraying her underlying nervousness. Adriana could tell her friend was nervous, and so was she.

"You good?"

Beth only nodded in response, and Adriana accepted the answer, turning her gaze back out of the window.

"What?"

"Total Pesci." Ruby chimed in through CB radio much to Annie's dismay.

"Because I'm short?"

Adriana's smile faltered as she noticed the black SUV trailing behind the truck, quickly noting that it was indeed a police car. She quickly straightened in her seat, her heart beating quickly in her chest at the thought of being caught. Beth keenly took note of Adriana's movement, her eyes darting to the rearview mirror as she caught sight of what had Adriana so shaken.

"It's just a whole Pesci vibe with you."

"Forget it. The whole movie's off." Annie scoffed.

Adriana glanced over at Beth once again, only to find her already staring at her, her face twisted in worry.

"Guys--"

"Pesci vibe--"

"Guys--"

"What?"

"There's a cop behind us." Adriana muttered, her eyes glued to the SUV trailing behind and Beth's eyes glued to the road ahead, hoping that the car would disappear. Adriana felt her chest tighten, images of her kids flashing through her mind no matter how hard she tried to push the thoughts back.

Her mind was filled with a desperate urge to focus and devise an escape plan for the both of them. However, as she fought back the tears welling up in her eyes, her thoughts grew increasingly foggy.

"Okay-- keep driving--" Adriana directed, trying to buy herself some time to come up with an actual plan.

"Okay, okay, just relax." Annie urged.

"That's easy for you to say. You're not the one hauling a truckload of life sentences."

Beth's voice grew sharp and tight, as she grew increasingly shifty, something that Adriana knew definitely wouldn't help the situation.
