chapter five

hey guys, so i'm currently editing this and trying to changer all of the she/hers i put for hange into they/thems because i didn't know when i first wrote this :) sorry about that!

The next few days flew by, and before I knew it, it was time to pack up. I'm in my room, packing everything into a duffel bag that was so graciously given to me by an irritated Captain Levi. A few of the girls were helping me out.

"I swear to god, if you forget something, I will kill you." Mikasa threatens. "Actually, on second thought, if you lose something, come back here and get it."

"You better not just take something from me so I can come back." I sense her devilish grin. "Mikasa, give me back whatever you just took." She sighs and gives me my white t-shirt. Then, she pulls me in a bone crushing hug.

"I'm gonna miss you," she said. I smile.

"Group hug!" Sasha yells, and all the girls come in and join the hug. We break when we hear a knock on the door. I already know it's the boys, but act surprised when Krista opens the door either way.

"You guys done packing?" Jean asked, inviting himself in. I raised and eyebrow.

"For the most part." I reply. The rest of them filed in, one by one. It was oddly solemn.

All of us just sat down and talked for a bit. They were worried about me, but knew that I could handle myself, since, well, I took down Commander Shadis.

"THE CARRIAGE IS HERE!" Shadis yelled. I sighed. I wasn't ready for this at all.

"Well. Lets go, then." Everyone went out, and I was about to leave as well, when I felt someone lightly pull me back. I turn around.

It's Armin.

I smile at him. "What's up, Armin?" I ask. He blushes, holding something behind his back.

"I-er.. wanted to give you this." he hands me a notebook and a pen. "So, if you get lonely, you can write and pretend that you're talking to us! Also, all of us wrote you notes in there."

I open the notebook. It isn't very big, so I can easily bring it with me wherever I go. I smile at him and throw my arms around his neck.

"I love it, thank you so much! But, I'm pretty sure I told you that I can't read." I say, pulling back from the hug. I can sense him blush a bit harder.

"I figured... if you want... you can have someone read them out to you. Later."

"I'll make sure I somehow read them, Armin, thank you so so much." I kiss him on the cheek, grab my stuff, and walk out of the door. I don't need to sense something to know that he looks like a tomato.

I'm outside and I sense Levi in the carriage. I put my stuff in there, hug all of my friends goodbye, especially Jean and Marco since they are planning to join the Military Police, and smile at them.

"Bye guys, I'll miss you!" There was a chorus of "byes" coming back at me as I hopped into the carriage and left them. Now it was just me and the Captain. He was pretty quiet most of the ride, which I didn't mind at all, but started talking about halfway through.

"I have four others on the squad with me, and they are all older than you, so don't be offended if they treat you somewhat like a child. And, be careful around shitty glasses because they will freak out over everything." Levi informed me.

"I'm assuming shitty glasses is Hange...?" I partially asked.

"Yeah. Eyebrows is Erwin and Sniffles is Mike. Also, you better keep the place neat, not even the tiniest speck of dirt should be in there, got it brat?"
