I hear footsteps.

Lots of them.

Titans. I'm sure of it.

I jolt awake, seeing the peaceful sleeping faces of my comrades. Just if life were actually that peaceful. Why couldn't it be? Damn you titans. I crawl over to Connie.

"Pssst, Connie. Connie!" I lightly shake him awake. He stirs a bit, getting up into a sitting position and rubs his eyes like a baby.

"What do you want?" he whines at me for waking him up from his little nap.

"I can hear titans." His eyes immediately widen at that, then he chuckles, brushing it off. I can see his face expression in the dark, I've been practicing a bit. I couldn't really sleep at first. I woke up in the middle of the night, the feeling of dread coursing through my body.

*flashback to like a few hours ago*
It's about 12:00 am, and my comrades are sleeping. Nanaba and Gelgar are currently on watch, and I have nothing to do. I cant go back to sleep, I feel like something bad is going to happen every time I close my eyes. I look around, using my breathing as the "trigger" for my echolocation. I need to practice on getting my face expressions right. So, I just walk around, lightly clicking my tongue against the roof of my mouth here and there to get a better feel of things. Then, I navigate my way through the castle, looking at anything. I even found more alcohol. I decide to go up to Nanaba and Gelgar.

My soft footsteps echo through the hallway as I make my way up the stairs.

Maybe I should practice sneaking around, I think, and make my footsteps so quiet that you wouldn't even be able to tell that anyone was there. I finally reach the top to see the two talking in the light of the full moon. I smile. Everything was so peaceful.

As if she sensed my presence, Nanaba turns around and seems surprised seeing me there. She softly smiles, something I haven't seen from her in a while.

"Hey there, Y/n." she says and I wonder why she didn't call me 'Cadet L/n'. Maybe the night has bewitched everyone. Trying to trick us into thinking nothing will happen.

Well it won't work on me.

"Can't sleep?" Gelgar asks and I nod, going over to sit in between the two. The were almost like my older siblings in this moment.

"Bad dream or something?" I shake my head. Nanaba nods hers in understanding.

"It's quite beautiful, isn't it?" she asks and I smile.

"Yeah. It is. I just wish the others could see this moment. Petra, Oluo, Mike... all of them." I look up at the sky, thinking of my families. Thinking of everyone I've lost. I sense a feeling of despair coming from the two, and I decide to give them some space. They didn't stop me as I leave them behind, to cope with the hopeful moon.
*end of flashback- damn that was hella dramatic lmao*

"I'm sure you're just imagining it, Y/n." Connie says, but I can hear the fear in his voice.

"Yeah, just like Sasha was imagining the footsteps last time? I don't think so. Trust me on this, me hearing is really advanced." I say, making a very solid point.

"Fine, just wake up the others." Connie grumbles and I head over to Krista's side. I'm like the only one Ymir trusts Krista with. I'm honestly not sure why.

"Hey, Krista. Wake up." she slowly stirs awake and I watch Connie try to get Reiner to do the same. Once Krista is fully awake, I head over to Bertholdt. No way in hell am I waking Ymir up. I'll leave Krista to do that.
