chapter thirteen

I can hear people. Ugh. It's so loud. I just want them to be quiet. I drift back into the darkness depths of my mind.

Jean's POV:
It is my turn to watch Y/n again. She's been asleep for about two days, with pretty serious injuries. Eren woke up ages ago. I walk into her room and sit down on the chair next to her bed. I look at the wavering lines, spiking up and down. I don't know what I would do if it went flat. But, I cant think about that now.

It's been about an hour, and I watch her chest rise and fall, nice and steady. I better not hear a flatline on there or else I will have Marco kill her myself. Suddenly, I see her hand twitch.

"Y/n?" I hopefully ask. Her head turns a little. "Hey! Y/n!" I call, gently shaking her. I watch her vibrant (e/c) eyes flutter open and I smile in relief.

"Jean?"

I lean over an hug her, trying not to squish her in the process. I hear her lightly laugh, and I'm so happy she didn't die.

"God, you had me so worried. Don't ever do that to me again." I whispered to her.

"No promises," she smirked and I rolled my eyes.

Y/n's POV:
Even though he rolls his eyes, I can sense his relief and happiness in seeing me. Then, I look around the infirmary. Why was I here, again?

"Hey, why am I here? What happened?" I ask Jean and his face falls.

"Well... you were riding a horse back to the Commander... and you fell off..." Jean left it hanging, when he saw my ashen face expression. I remember what happened. The final moments of my squad flashed through my head and I feel the tears streaming down my face. He hugs me again, letting me sob into his shoulder.

"They... they're... they're dead..." I whispered, over and over, not being able to process what had happened. Once I composed myself, I just stayed in that position, Jean hugging me. He pulled away a little, putting his hands on my shoulders.

"You okay?" he asked, but I know that he knew I truly wasn't. I nod, and Jean sighs.

"I've got to call titan boy before he freaks out about me not calling him in here." he rolls his eyes and I giggle a bit, nodding in understanding.

"Wait!" I say before he leaves. "Can you not leave?" I add, my thumbs suddenly seeming very interesting. Jean's face softens a bit and he laughs.

"Of course." Then, he sticks his head out the door frame. "EREN! EREN FUCKING JAEGER GET YOUR SORRY ASS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!" I laugh as I hear Eren's response.

"SHUT UP HORSEFACE!"

"GUESS I'LL HAVE TO TELL Y/N THAT YOU DONT WANNA SEE HER!" Jean shakes his head in annoyance, and walked back to the chair as Eren, Mikasa, and Armin barge into the room, eyes wide.

"Y/NNN!!" Eren yells, as he's about to throw himself on me. But, before he can, Jean and Mikasa catch him.

"You're going to hurt her." Mikasa states, and Eren flushes, apparently not realizing that. So, Armin comes over and gently hugs me first.

"I'm so glad you're okay." he says, and I smile.

"Same to you." I say. Then, he pulls back and Eren finally comes, softly hugging me this time and not attacking me.

"Jesus, you suck. You freaked everyone out a bit." he says and I laugh a bit.

"Yeah? You sent me off while turning into that ugly ass titan of yours, in my book that's not any better." He laughs in return and pulls back so Mikasa can hug me. It was short, but coming from Mikasa I know it means a lot.
