Alfie

"Hi, ready for the date?" I said, smiling and looking down. I shook my head and frowned. "That sounds stupid Alfie!" I muttered to myself, before making yet another attempt. "Hey, ready to go?" I said, giving a wink, before frowning yet again. "This is so stupid! You know what, Im just gonna do it!" I said, finding my hand reaching out for the doorbell as I pressed it.
I found myself becoming nervous a lot quicker than I would have hoped, and felt my hands tremble slightly, but I still kept my cool and stood patiently, waiting for her to arrive at the door.

When the door finally peaked open, I found myself dumbstruck. I was physically speechless. "Woah, Zoe... You look... Woah!" I watched her cheeks tint red and she giggled.
"So, 'Just Alfie'," she said, rolling her eyes at me, "Where are we going?
I smiled at her, taking her hand and leading her to my car. "Its a surprise!" I said with a wink, before opening her door for her.
She giggled before stepping in, and I hopped into the drivers seat before taking off.
"I must say, you don't look too bad yourself!" Zoe finally said, breaking the silence which hung over us.
I had flung on my black skinny jeans, along with a white shirt and a thin black tie. My jeans could have looked better, but all in all, I didn't look too bad.

"Alfie, we've been driving for 20 minutes, where are we going?" Zoe giggled, and I could feel her gaze catch onto me.
"We're nearly there!" I said, chuckling and rolling my eyes before turning into the final road.
Ahead of us stood an Italian restaurant. It wasn't the most expensive place around but it looked amazing, had brilliant quality and was reasonably priced. "Alfie! This place looks amazing!" She said, smiling and looking around, wondrously.
I took this as an opportunity to take her hand as we stepped out the car and walked over to it. As we entered the reception, I told the lady about my reservation and she led us to our table.
The restaurant itself wasn't expensive, but I wanted to make sure Zoe had a good time, so I reserved a special table, out on the balcony. It wasn't very private, seeing as there were other couples there, but up you had to pay extra for it.
"Alfie, this is amazing! Are you sure you can afford it?" She said, gulping a but before sitting down.
I chuckled and winked at her before saying, "Anything for my princess!"

We both ordered, me ordering a pepperoni pizza and her ordering some fancy pasta. We also ordered drinks, both just having a normal cola. As soon as the waiter left, Zoe looked back at me, half smiling but half raising an eyebrow. "Okay Deyes, whiny did you bring me here? Yes, I'll admit, I'm pretty smart, but look-wise, popularity-wise and personality-wise, everyone hates me!' She giggled a bit at her own comment but I knew she was serious.
I genuinely laughed before saying, "I brought you here because you're a beautiful girl who deserves to be admired!"
I squeezed her hand tighter and she smiled at me, but it was a sad smile... I could tell.
"W-what's wrong?" I said, looking at her, slightly puzzled.
"What do you mean?" She said, her fake smile now dropping slightly to a shocked, sad face.
"Come on, your expression totally changed when I said that!" I said, leaning back in my chair.

She sighed before saying, "Because, Alfie, that's just about the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me."
His made me all the more confused, so I said, "So... That's a bad thing?"
I actually felt kind of hurt that she thought of that as a bad thing as she nodded, but it was soon cleared up as she continued, "Because you're Alfie Deyes. You like to party, you like to flirt, you have friends, you're good looking, you can live any life you want Alfie... And soon you're going to realise that the life you want doesn't involve me..."
I sat frozen, unsure of how to react. Was this really what she thought of me? Was she assuming that I didn't truly care for her?
"You're right. Im Alfie, I like to party and I like to flirt. I have one of the biggest mouths in the school and everyone knows my name. But even so, Im not happy, and I won't be happy until you realise just how much more amazing you are than I will ever be!" I said, staring into her eyes. What I said most likely didn't make sense, but words couldn't explain what I wanted to say.

Zoe was obviously dumbstruck by my words, unsure of what to say, and luckily the waiter came with our food. We both instantly began eating, making small comments on the food, but it wasn't long before Zoe found her reply to my comment. "Im not amazing"
I chuckled slightly before saying, "You just don't see it!"
After we finished our food, we both chose not to have desert and began taking a walk around, through a nearby park. It was dark and empty, but the silence was night.

As we walked side by side, I took this as my chance to take her hand, intwining our fingers. She flinched slightly but allowed it.
"Okay, on a scale from one to ten, how high are the chances of you being mine after this?" I said cheekily, smiling at her.
She giggled slightly before thinking and saying, "Well... I'll make my judgment once you've given me a reason to be yours!"
I sighed and said, "Your right, I don't deserve someone as great as you!"
She rolled her eyes before saying, "It's not that, Im just waiting to find out that this is all just a joke."
I stopped and frowned, "What do you mean?"
"Oh come on," she said, rolling her eyes, "Did Marcus set you up to all of this? Or was it Tyler, he seems like the type to do this... Maybe it was even Jim.... Who set you up to this?"
I frowned once again saying, "Set me up to what?"
"This! Coming here! Asking me on a date! Saying you want to be mine! Everything!" She said, and I could see her trembling slightly as her voice raised.
I whispered slightly as I said, "Look at me." She remained facing the other direction. "Zoe, look at me." She still didn't turn to face me until I took my fingers to her chin and gently turned her to face me. I stared into her eyes, her staring back. "If this was all a lie. If I didn't want to date you. If I brought you out here for nothing, would I really do this?" And with that, I slowly leaned in and attached my lips to hers gently. I obviously did something right as I felt her carefully kiss back, neither of us breaking away for several seconds.
