The walk home was quick, which annoyed me as that resulted in tine going slowly and I honestly just wanted time to speed up. There were atleast another two hours til Kate showed up and I'm hone alone... Fun

The thing about being home alone is the fact that I'm the type to get extremely paranoid over nothing. One twig snap, one hum from the fridge, one ding from the microwave, whatever it is I'll be running out this house faster than you can say buzz light gear.

Knowing this, I went to the living room, putting on spongebob and turning the volume right up so it would drown out anything else and reduce my chances of a panic attack.

I may be considered childish, but it's not exactly my fault I can't handle situations when I'm on my own easily. I mean, if anyone broke into my house right now, who would be there to call the police? Huh? Exactly! No one, and I would die and no one would know!

I was lucky that it didn't take long for SpongeBob to drown out my thoughts and I managed to go through two episodes before a pound slam came from my front down and I was back on edge, beginning to creep towards my window in case I needed a quick escape.

"Zoe, are you home?' And I was relieved to hear my mums chirpy voice calling after me. "Is there a problem?" She laughed, walking into the room and finding my position by the window odd.

I chuckled nervously before walking towards her and hugging her. "Kate's coming over in a bit, she's sleeping round, is that okay?"

My mum nodded and I smiled before quickly kissing her cheek and mumbling a thank you. "Don't stay up too late though!" My mum said rolling her eyes.

"It's Friday?" I said more as a question than a statement.

"So?" My mum said which only made me laugh. "Now come help me out the shopping away."

I groaned but followed her to the kitchen reluctantly.

"Kate you can talk to me." We were sat opposite each other, cross legged on my bed. I tried to make my voice as gentle as possible but she still looked down in despair,

"Is it your mum?" She shook her head. "Dad?" Again, shook her heads. "Brothers?" Her head remained still... It's her brothers. "Which one?" She remained silent and so I sighed. "Kate, nothing will get sorted if you stay quiet.liked being

She huffed before looking at me, making her eyes as large as possible. "This might take a while..."

I nodded for her to continue and she took a deep breath before she did.

"Well... When I first moved in with my dad, everyone was great... Well, sort of... Jack always liked being in control. I guess this was fine... I mean, Finn didn't always get what he wanted but... We were happy you know." Kate gave me a small smile, but the emotion behind it was nothing but sadness. Her smile was quick to drop. "When we started high school, things began to change. Of course, Finn was quick to join your friendship group whilst Jack didn't exactly have anyone..." Kate paused, as though she was thinking for a second before saying, "No one to control. It didn't exactly talk long for Finn to start crushing on you." Kate laughed, but it was into a fun was, more in a forced way. "He wouldn't stop talking about you... .i-I don't know what it was... But something caused Jack to click... Finn constantly described his friendship with you as so close... And Jack thought he was drifting away... A-and..." A single tear fell down Kate's cheeks as she said. "And he hit Finn. Mum didn't know... Dad didn't know... And Finn thought it was just the one time... Jack apologised and they agreed never to leave each other's sides... Jack started hanging out with us... Finn became more reliant on Jack... B-But Jack never stopped hurting Finn... A-And it's getting worse Zoe..." Kate's eyes seemed scared as she looked at me and I knew not to push things.

"It's okay Kate." I said, wrapping my arms around her as she quickly broke out into sobs. "Why haven't you told anyone?"

"Theres nothign we can do." Kate said between sniffles. "Finn tried to run away." She looked up at me, shaking her head. "This won't stop Zoe..."

I sigh a rested my hand on Kate's head, letting her lean on my shoulder. "It will Kate... Everything works out in the end..."

I've been really ill lately and I guess I'm still pretty ill and have writers blocked so this is all I could come up with

Anyway, I ,isn't update pretty soon again became yay half term

Also, this book has like 3 chapters left
