Alex's POV
"He's blind?"
"Yeah," I nodded into the phone. "I had no idea, I feel like a complete asshole."
"Well you should," Ava said. I rolled my eyes at her, even though I knew she couldn't see me. Ava was my best friend but she literally had no filter. "I mean there you were thinking he was some tool when really he can't see for shit."
"Gee thanks," I replied sarcastically. "You always know how to make me feel better."
"Well it's the truth," Ava said. "You fucked up real bad."
"I know," I sighed.
"I wonder what its like to be blind," She thought aloud. "I mean what's it like to never see anything ever?"
"I don't know, ask Calum," I shrugged.
"That's the first thing I'll say to him, 'Hi my name is Ava, could you please describe to me in detail everything about your disability,'" She laughed.
"Do you want to meet him?" I said suddenly.
"What?"
"My mom invited them over for dinner tonight. You're welcome to come."
"Can't," She simply stated. "I'm still grounded, remember?" I chuckled a bit. Ava was a great person, and my best friend, but she had a terrible knack for doing stupid things, such as smoking weed, and getting caught by her parents.
"You're never gonna learn are you?" I laughed.
"Probably not." She said. "But I've got to go, I'm technically not even supposed to be using the phone. If my parents find out they'll flip."
"Bye Ava."
"Bye Alex."
I hung up the phone and checked the time. 5:24. The Hood's weren't due to show up until seven, so I had plenty of time before I needed to change out of my pajamas. Since I had already finished my homework, I sprawled out across my bed and began mindlessly scrolling through Tumblr on my phone.
Slowly, my mind started slipping and I found myself getting really tired. My eyes struggled to stay open; I could feel my body start relaxing as I inched closer and closer towards sleep. I wanted to stay awake, as there wasn't much time until dinner, but my sleep-deprived body simply wouldn't allow it. So I caved, finally giving myself permission to fall asleep and get some well-deserved rest.

"It's payback time," I heard a faint whisper. My eyes fluttered open slowly, just in time to see Jake pour water all over my face.
I let out a high-pitched scream as I felt the freezing water wash over my face. "What the hell!" I screeched, abruptly sitting up and flinging my blankets away from me.
"Watch your language," He snickered.
"I'm gonna kill you!"
"You have to catch me first!"
Bring it on.
Jake sprinted out of my room and practically jumped down the stairs. I was right at his tail, only a few steps behind him. "You've got to be quicker than that!" I reached my hand out and the tips of my fingers grazed the back of his shirt, but unfortunately he accelerated before I could grab hold. He turned a sharp corner into the living room, so I made the same turn. However, I was surprised to see the Hood's already in the living room, chatting with my mom and Candice.
I tried to stop my accelerating body, but my socks kept sliding across the hardwood floor, taking me with them. I slid uncontrollably forward until my body collided with something, or should I say, someone.
