Alex's POV

"Hey Alex!" I turned around to see who had called my name. Running down the school hallway towards me was a kid who I had only seen around school a few times, I'm pretty sure his name was Patrick or something like that. He came to a stop once he reached me, and put his hand up against the wall to support himself, or to look cool, I wasn't sure which.

"Uh, hi," I responded.

"So do you think you would ever go out with a guy like me?" He asked, a hopeful gleam in his eyes. I looked him up and down for a brief second, observing his appearence. He was wearing a shirt with grenades on it. Over a sweatshirt. I felt myself become disinterested in him immediately.

"Probably not," I told him, seeing as there was no point in lying.

"How about now?" He shut his eyes tight and started walking aimlessly, which resulted in him crashing into somebody's open locker. He rubbed his head, which was now probably hurting, and kept his eyes closed. "I hear that's the kind of guys you date, ones who have no fucking idea where they're going." He laughed obnoxiously, obviously proud at his joke.

"Fuck off, would you," I snarled. "Or maybe try banging your head against the lockers again. You might as well just get rid of the two brain cells you have left in your giant ass head." I gave him the middle finger before stomping off to my next class.

It had been like this all day. Left and right people were making jokes about blind people, telling me how absolutely ridiculous it was to date someone like that. I had been indirectly called fat and ugly at least thirty times, because apparently only ugly people date someone who can't see them.

The really ridiculous part was that Calum and I weren't even dating. This all started because I was forced to read my messages to the class. Someone in my math class must have spread the rumor that I was seeing Calum. But even if I was dating Calum, so what? So what if he's blind? It doesn't really matter in the end, people were just shallow and judgmental. Always looking for something to talk about.

I walked into my next class, which was English. I liked English though, it always came easier to me than math. I could easily write a whole essay in less than an hour, but math homework would take me at least three.

I plopped down into my assigned seat at the front, and began tapping my foot while waiting for the other students to show up. It could take some time considering I was early to class.

Eventually the class filled up with people, all eager to not learn. The seat next to me was occupied by some I despised, Nick, who was also in my math class. I strongly suspected him of telling everyone about Calum and I, after all he had seemed the most amused with my text conversation yesterday. I saw him glance at me and chuckle a bit, like my face was the most hilarious thing in the whole world and he couldn't contain himself.

"Can I help you?" I asked rudely.

"What?" Nick acted completely innocent.

"Is there a reason you're snickering at me like a four year old?"

"No, no reason," he replied smugly. "You're just funny looking I guess." He looked away, avoiding eye contact with me. "Which is probably why you need to date a guy who can't see you," he muttered so quietly, I almost couldn't hear him.

"Asshole," I mumbled. He rolled his eyes at me and turned away.

I successfully ignored him the rest of the period, however I saw him glance at me a few times throughout the class. I refused to look back at him though, seeing as I wasn't in the mood for an argument. When the bell finally rang I got up as quickly as I could, determined to leave and get away from him, but to no avail. "Alex! Wait!" I stopped.
